WHITE COUNTY,Ind. FedEx Freight Set Burns To The Ground After Hitting USF Holland

Box Truck must not have been far enough off the road that it was still in the line of traffic.
Sad that the environmental wacko's are so concerned about pollution, the fuel additive are causing fires with any sparks from crashes.

We should all be wearing fire suits. Ultra Low Sulfur diesel fuel is so pure and flammable that it is like Jet A or JP-4 . Years ago if you wanted to lite up a pail of No. 2 diesel you would have to start a gas rag on fire and throw it in the pail. With Ultra Low Sulfur it will lite just by throwing a match in it !

The fire was probably started when the diesel fuel spewed onto the catalytic converter the trucks are equipped with now. ULSD is still DF2 that has the sulfer removed. It is no where near JetA, JP5,JP7 or JP8, which our military uses, which are kerosene based...matter of fact...JP8 is used by the military in all of it's diesel engines. JP4 is a Napha based fuel like gasoline, and is very unstable and does not work well at all in diesel engines. I know this for a fact...as I spent over 20 years as a POL troop in the USAF.

Good for you Jeepman. I'm sure you must know more about the makeup of diesel fuel than I do. I was just generalizing. You are right that the fire probably was started by the fuel getting on the hot converter. I know for a fact that it is a lot more volatile than it used to be and that was the point that I was trying to make !!!

I think the converters on the trucks these days are more dangerous than we are let on to believe. The enormous temps these things generate are scary!
