I talked to some YRC shuttle drivers from 813 (Tracy, Ca.) last week, and we discussed some issues concerning 813 and 889 (Hayward, Ca.), Largely due to the COO.
Late last August at 813, all CDL qualified on the seniority list either on regular or voluntary layoff were recalled. Nobody came back.
With the closings of terminals in Salinas and Oakland a few years ago, and more recently San Jose and Benicia, Hayward (889) now has to cover the entire SF Bay Area (except show/convention freight) and points South to King City, 133 miles away. The terminal is regularly backed up with freight, and often uses outside cartage to cover the P+D since many "working out of the hall" at Local 70 refuse to work there.
YRC recently created some bids where a shuttle driver would start at 813, deliver inbound to 889, cover a P+D route, then haul outbound back to 813. The Union backs this, and at least two have taken these bids. That concludes my report. Anyone from 813 or 889 please add to this or correct as necessary. Thanks, and wishing you all well.

You are correct on all counts. Yrc can't service their customers with this COO. The freight flow is steadily decreasing on inbound and outbound, customers are unhappy, and the overtime is at a very high level. We are all wondering what will be the next move by the company.

No that's directly opposite the of the company's goals of shrinking to profitability, that would be the old school growing to profitability............................

Stem times have been a big issue for a lot of terminals since the last change of ops. Look for terminals that were closed to reopen here in the near future.

At 889we now taking tlrs out service(removing glad hands) and dropping the ins.We have8 now. They are now laying off dock workers on midnight shift. They use cartage for del. south of salinas and south of carmel, that includes pick ups.We have doors just for cartage with the bills coming off the tlrs. Already coded for theses doors.Somedays they 3 drivers to Monterey and Salinas to do one drop or pick,if the term. Was back in salinas this only needs one driver. It's just a joke at what has happen,
