FedEx Freight | YRC/Dallas Meeting

I worked at a union barn for a long time and watched the yard guys drop inbound sets, fuel the tractors, and then retook out bound sets usually in 30-45 minutes. Fred pays us 1.25 hours for doing this. And those road drivers standing around where not getting paid a dime unless they were past their "gate" time, kinda just like us!!!!

The whole hostler point you made is ridiculous, we have three at my barn in the AM. One helps the road guys break their sets, one talks on his phone and the other plays Candy Crush. At smaller union barns like your talking about the hostler runs out of work, he goes up on the dock and moves freight. At Fedex they spend just as much time screwing off as Union barns.

PT, why don't you come clean...you hate hooking and breaking your own sets don't you? Some of our road drivers in the west just bristle about that issue....

So having hostlers hooking and breaking sets is what is killing the union companies?

General lack of productivity, and protecting those that don't work. What's the one thing almost everyone on the YRC or ABF board complains about? The union protecting the dirtbags and hanging out to dry the good guys...oh, that and not enforcing the contract.

So RC, admit it, what you really don't like about FxF is that they don't tolerate the immaturity Viking did!

What I really don't like is spending tens of dollars to save a penny.
Things like driving a fifty thousand dollar tractor to a hub and parking it for hours to pay a driver $24 an hour to do work a $14 an hour guy could do.
Things like a blanket doing away with laydowns to show that you saved money.
In some instances it makes sense. In others it is just plain stupid.
To eliminate a layover in a lane and lose a triples pull by doing so makes no sense at all. To run a third truck just to save a motel bill is not cost effective. I could keep on going but I have things to do.

Really?? That's the best you can come up with?? I don't hate hooking my sets at all. Why don't you come clean and admit you know nothing about how union barns work and stop spewing useless nonsense. I'm not telling anybody how they should think about unions, but if you going to start a serious discussion about it, then your going to have to be honest and truthful. Your reply to me was neither.

Soooooooooooooo not true. There are guys at my terminal that go 30 miles to a hub and take 3 hour naps and nobody says a word to them. No contract protecting them. The laziness that goes on here is way worse than I ever witnessed at a union barn. Just stop with the whole "union guys are lazy". It's just not true and it happens at every company

Upsf breaks and hooks their own sets and has to br their trailers. All while on the clock no task pay. Contact means everything. Come on st

Then why does ups post bigger record profits every quarter?? They are all teamsters. The problem with yrc is all becuz bad timing on purchasing roadway usf, new penn reddyway. This arguement has pros n cons on both ends of the rope.

They are all Teamsters but 53% of them are part time and are frozen at $8.50 an hour...that's how they make a profit. Teamsters should be ashamed of themselves for the lopsided pay scale at UPS. Full time fat cats make $32 an hour while the majority of the work force makes less than McDonald's!

They hire seasonal part time in the package division every year. You are mixing up Freight with Package.

lmao:27: That's funny.......I'm not going to do it, bc if you try and make me I'll call my Union rep. and then I'll cuss you like a dog bc that's what I can do.....lol

You spend most of your time on the YRC board bad mouthing both YRC and the union, and then you come over here to take a swipe or two at anyone who doesn't think joining you and the misery that is yours...interesting way to live life.

I bad mouth yrc not the union. The problems there are management NOT union rules. If it were union rules then how did ABF have a profit last quarter with more restricted rules and full wages. You are badly misinformed or just lying.

Full wages, huh?

Look at the money UPS and UPS Freight pays and they still made over 1 billion in profit. YRC just needs too run a tighter ship... Union rules aren't killing YRC its the hole in there ship....
