Yellow | Yellow and Roadway

There are several problems with yrc, i work there and see what goes on,,,, 1. People running yrc do not know how to work together,, it is a dog and cat game, they consider themselves mr. Know it alls, but know nothing about working together with local terminal managers and workers. There was a big difference on how roadway worked and yellow worked with its people. We at roadway were included in its operations, like how can we give better service to out customers or what can we do to make the company better for everyone. At yellow it was just a dog and cat game, like it is today. Today we loose so much money due to the fact that we do not get our time sensitive shippments on time to our customers, and they end up being delivered for free. We loose over 50 % of this shipments. We have requested help for term. 511 and it just goes in one ear and goes out the other, and this includes my mangers boss there, he is one that needs to go, because he does not know how to work with people, we need people that listen to its works, on how to possibly improve yrc to work as a family. Yrc needs setup a hotline to listen to its empoylee's, there are some smart works with good ideas on how maybe we can be a better company, but like i said yrc needs to get rid of the people that do not want to listen to the employee's. We need people to listen, yet know when to draw that line on was it not good for yrc.

Well, I agree with you on the point of a hot line. Every single company I have ever worked for has the same problem, no accountability for incompetent employees. This one especially. I will not defend a company for any reason just because I used to work for them and angry about the merger, like some on here do. Let me be clear, Yellow legacy here. The automatic denial of workers comp. claims came from Yellow. I have always not liked this fact and tell any one who will listen to get a lawyer if you ever have a serious injury on the job. Not to be confused with defending a person faking a injury mind you. The main difference of the two former companies is the arrogance most former Roadway management have toward the workers. This is a company culture that is taught and encouraged from the top down. The last company I worked for that had this management style- mind set was CF. Not saying there aren't former Yellow management that are arrogant, there was- are plenty. The difference is the corporate culture they created and encourage. Ok bash away.

You sound like a smart person, that tries to understand things in a resposilble way. Yes, there are bad people both from former roadway and yellow, working for yrc, the sad part is, it is hard to get rid of them. They are the people that are taking yrc down, there are not even hard working people in yrc to keep this company from going down, well maybe a hotline is not a good idea, but i guess that i have seen so much money lost at our terminal, due the the fact that we have to deliver our time sensitive shipments for free just about every day. Then i thought to myself, if there was someone i could call maybe that person can start holding people reponsible for not getting this shipment moving or delivered on time. Here is one example,,, of what i mean, i pickup a seal divider trl. On a thursday, this was to be deliver in mi. On monday, my boss called all weekend for that trl. To be moved from term. 511. We checked on it on monday morning, and it was still at term 511. And this happens all the times.

If you heard the taped reason that Ron D gave for getting rid of the turn wheel, it was all the drivers and unoins fault. Management had no part in scheduling a run to a dark term that had no frieght and would send empty's back, then send another driver with empty's to the same term to pick up a load to return to 309. Their reasoning was they wanted to send a turn driver to bed whenever they screwed up. No one at 309 can make a decision at 309 with out fear of being fired so they don't. If they would work with drivers who run the system on a daily basis they might stop this waste. This was common practice at yellow, I think the top down, I run this place, style of management went out in the 1970's but is still being praticed here. There used to be a big sign over the dispatchers windows that told drivers "these are your costumers",it should have read "these are your partners"! Unfortunatly old ways die hard and untill this type of management changes we will keep hemoraging money as the us against them attitude will not be overcome.

i know about running linehaul drivers around with empties, we have had them here at our terminal several times, the last 2 drivers that did this, did it for 3 days straight just going to different terminals with empties. you know i wish someone from the investors or banks got ahold of this messages, just maybe things will change at yrc.
