Where is the unions postion on these guys? Is the pos company going to let them return with there senority or start at bottom? Our BA acts like he could care less.

I am a trucker but not a total dumb a-- YRC created this mess with their finacial hokus pokus (they have done a lot of pokus) the membership approved the MOU'S why should there money troubles put some guy that retired in good faith in finacial trouble,we have giving enough now it is time for YRC to do the right thing. Do you want to turn your back on these guys? R-14

You took my DEFINITION of the word " retired " to mean I want to turn my back on these people ???? WOW talk about stretching it !! Are you a member of the Central States ? Have you not received the notices over the last couple years ( since 2008 ) about how bad they have been doing ?

I don't mind turning my back, Most of these guys use seniority to say fu to the junior guys. The retired guys can care less about a Jr. man (and never have) that may be able to come back to work. If the Jr guy can suffer then spread the butter even across the board. walmart is hiring let them go there.

More than likely with your mind set your statement will be true if/when you ever retire. Not all of us think that way. Don't worry about me, any job would be better than coming back to YRC. You sir deserve the job tho, I hope you get to work it for a good long time.

Yes I am and have recieved all of the mailings and have seen what they have done to our lives it is time to tell them you have made this mess now do what is right. What about the guys that had 25 or 30 years in at Roadway, Newpenn or Holland but not the age to retire they are now screwed by YRC problems, we have guys that have 30 years in at 51 1/2 they are plain f------ Not all have been retired some with 20 years in will probable never get a dime because of their age now. Yes I am pissed at what all three parties have done to us Central States, YRC and the Union at the meetings in Dec 2003 the rep said they had declining enrollment since 1986 how many times was the pension raised in the next 17 years. The fat cats took care of their people then left little cushion or good future for the rest of us,I have spoke my peace, give me the money in my 401 K and let me take care of myself and stick the politics where the sun dont shine!

They would have to start at the bottom. They retired and that is the same as resigning. If the union let them come back with senoirity the lawsuit against them would be epic!

The IBT would probably NEVER take up this issue unless the Courts ordered them to. Central States is pretty slick when it comes to NOT getting sued. Everything Central States does is closely scrutinized by their attorneys, and the Federal Court in Chicago since the fund is still operating under a Consent Decree with the Labor Department, and has been since September 22, 1982!

I retired April 30th 2009 and when I went into the operation managers office that day I had to sign a resignation letter and with this I gave up all rights of returning unless I wanted to come back later then I assume I would go to the bottom of the seniority list.....Everyone who has retired had to of signed a resignation letter or they would not been able to receive a pension check......Any retirees correct me if I am wrong........nuff said..

A few guys have verified that they didn't have to sign a resignation letter. If I remember right some were on LOA when they decided to retire, and never signed one. (maybe some other reasons also)

Mud Cat as a union member do you really feel seniority is unfair? I hope this is not true, a senior man has the rites he has earned over the years. What he does with those rites are up to him. As a junior man you may not like the system but it was in place since before you were in the system, and if you feel it is not fair your options as a union member are to 1. vote it out or 2. move on to one of the many non union jobs were an a-s kisser always gets his way

You are worrying way too much about YRC guys that have 25-30 years in at age 51. They can't retire on a 25-30 and out since CSPF stopped it and the new retirement age is 65 and it's unlikely they'll work another 14 yrs or so but that money is there for them when they're 64 1 way or the other. If they gut it out working till they're 62-63 and retire they get a decent pension and social security. It's the dudes that have less then 20 now that should worry. The retirees that retired after Sept 24 2010 only will be allowed to stop checks and return to work but not at YRC. There are too many people on layoff

they're too old for this crap anymore

Wow R-14...I didn't know you had anything to do with hiring and firing at YRC. Can you get my brother in law on? He's a good worker (acually he's freeloading off of us) and he would love to be on one of those looooong sleeper trips (you know, like weeks at a time)

Thank you thank you I needed a laugh !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see a lot of post saying that people have retired from YRC but never resigned but if you look at your retirement paper work this was one of the forms you filled out .

This is the new form .

Why quit? YRC was dropped by CSPF for non payment. If they resume payments you may have to resign. That form is for companys that still belong.

It will be for you too (notice the 2 check boxes under "I certify that:") if and when you decide to retire. You can defer your retirement. You don't have to be working for a company that is under the plan when you choose to hang it up. But you better have the credits (or required years vested) when you do.

So walk away from YRC if that is your pleasure but don't plan on retiring until you meet the retirement requirements (whatever they might be in the future.)

And their work after retirement requirements will cramp your style if you plan on retiring from the fund and stay in jobs that are in the core. About the only safe jobs to seek out are with the government (state, county, city even USPS.)
