XPO | E Track Tailers... OMG!!!

I don't know where you are at Merdock but out here in the west as far as I know, we are holding our own. Claims can always be lower and production can always be higher but we are doing our job out here. Now, with the rollout of the handhelds, the new safe stack system, you are going to have a drop in production. People have to learn how to use these things and it takes longer for some than others.

No matter what bigfoot express would do or wouldn't do, it is not the hourly employee that is causing this company it's problems right now. You can point fingers at laziness and yes, I will agree with you. When I pick up a strap to secure some freight and the end is all smashed, yeah, that pisses me off. Laziness is not why our stock is in the tank right now. Claims and production are not the sole problem here. They are a problem but claims and production doesn't run companies out of business. Management does. Greed does.

If your few paragraphs are the answer here, why aren't you in Ann Arbor?

Wow, I was kind of defending the company and their choices when you jump out and started yelling at me. All I was saying is that there are some improvements to the improvements that can be done and why are other companies making money paying their employees more when we are losing money getting paid less. No need to lash out Merdock, I think we are on the same side then again, I might be wrong.:argue:

well i am also in the west...and i am also a regional SME for the safestack program...i can tell you the western region is not "holding its own"...we are last in most major catagories!...i know this b/c we have a good regional manager an he is holding these guys feet to the fire and i have sat in on and get his e-mails...

on a side note we have a good thing going with the safestack trailers..we can cube a trailer out to max capacity and really help our claims out by doing this right...i know we are all busy but like i seen earlier...JUST SET THE NEXT GUY UP!... we build some awsome safestack trailers at my place and it feels good when your finished and its 25,000 w/ 23-28 bills...looks nice and neat...

Why couldnt they just have added more load racks into the system? Cuz they take up too much room or because there to hard to find anywhere? Those things are still like gold at the FAC's. It does take a very long time and a lot of effort to load an E-track properly. I was heavy the other night and loaded an E-track all the way to the back door and it was really hot out and inside the trl by the time I was done with it I was really tired and thirsty and my arms and back sore because some of the rails were really hard to lower. It seems like they want things done faster and more effecient, but sometimes it seems like I'm not accomplishing as much on the dock as I used to when I first started with the company 6 yrs ago. Just my 2 cents.

well what about the freight thats too tall for a rack...but short enought to be topped with other freight?...so you just lose that 8% of the trailer because a normal rack wouldnt cut it?...it is more work, we are over capacity, we are ALL working long hours we just have to man up and get the job done..on a side note the more you use the e-tracks the faster it goes..you kind of just get the hang of it..

I think it should be mandatory to state what your job title is when posting. If your in management or a driver or csr, you should have to state it. Cause we really all know! Oh, Me you ask....dsr for years and years.

I am also a DSR...suprised?...some of us just ike to do the right thing the right way....
i have an extended pedal out here (usually 14-17 dlvy and 4-5 p/u's) then i work the outbound dock to my 13-14 every night...

:duh:I saw an E-trac trailer being used to store trash pallets the other day. I thought that was pretty funny way to use the equipment

The last time I checked, DRIVERS load trailers, DRIVERS unload trailers, the damage to freight is caused by US. You guys that keep talking about the "Crystal Palace" and "management" being at the root to all of our problems need to wake up. John L. does not work on the dock and he has not damaged a single piece of freight. I am a driver and I have damaged alot of freight, always by accident, but still I have damaged it and I am sure the rest of you have as well. We all need to MAN UP and do a better job. Quality and Service are where its at and we all need to pull together to get that back. Quit blaming Ann Arbor for everything and take a good hard look at what you are doing at work. Are you a positive or a negative???? As for me, I am positive and will continue to be positive and will try and do a better job at how I handle freight.

I got news for you Radman. I have had Regional Management tell me to stack freight at a FAC that damaged the Freight. Yes Drivers damage Freight but I have seen management make drivers stack freight and damage it . I had to leave over 13,000 pounds on the dock one night because I had to make a Via and I told the FOM that I refused to load the Freight in the Air on a E-Track and make the load top heavy. I told him he could sign it on and take responsibility. MAN UP YOU SAY!!!!!!! Your idea of manning up is kissing managements butt. Go ahead and kiss away. I have seen what it takes for this company to turn a profit. What this Company is doing right now doesn't come close . Treating the drivers like total crap and stealing from them is not the way to make a profit. We need leadership. Something that no one in XGO has a clue about. Maybe that John Boy is gone might make a difference and I hope it does. BUT I am afraid that he is the Sacrificial Lamb and nothing will change. Only time will tell. BUT KEEP DRINKING THAT Kool-AID. You will look like a Smurf before you know it!!!!

well as a city driver i kinda of like them got to a stop and had 14 feet left was told to pick up one skid at a stop well ended up as 10 skids all 6 feet long well lucky i had an e track or safe track what ever you call it i was able to drop the racks and load the freight so it worked out real nice and i do what ever that i can do to get an e trailer and you don't have to look all over for a load bar that don't work

Like I said earlier Gunner, Man Up. Take responsibility for how you do you your job. All of us need to take responsibility for how we do our jobs. How is encouraging people to do the right thing "kissing managements butts"??? Last time I checked I looked nothing like a smurf but maybe if I stay Positive, which to some means you are a Kool-aid drinking company man in the pocket of management I will transform.

I don't work for Con-Way, but Radman sounds strikingly familiar to your forum. Could it be? No, surely not! BoxBoss? Hmmmmm!

For over 22 years I have given 100% . Some days my 100% isn't as good as other but I always give 100%. That's how I was raised , also what the Marine Corps taught me and it is also Biblical. The Bible says you should do the best you can do .Part of Manning up is standing up for things you believe in and standing against things that are wrong. ( Such as incompetent management , I have as you say MANNED UP to their faces )I agree that there are drivers that don't give all they can . BUT the thing is , our so called leadership has failed us. It's just like what I told you about management at FAC's telling drivers to stack freight that shouldn't be stacked. I have seen it , it has happened to me.
To get this Company back to where it used to be we have to have people at the top who knows what they are doing. We have to have leadership. Leadership can't be taught in school. All we are getting now days is School Boys that thinks they know it all. This type of mentality gets people killed in some jobs. I have seen it. A Boot Second Lieutenant that has been to O.C.S. thinks he knows more than a Staff Sgt. or a Gunny ends up getting men killed.
If our so called Management had been making calls in a combat situation over half of us would be dead.
Take responsibility !!!! I take responsibility of everything I do. If I am wrong I say I am wrong. If I make a mistake I admit making a mistake. I am sick and tired of XGO not accepting any blame for ANYTHING and blaming us.
If you had experienced this company the way it once was and watched how management has ran it into the ground you would understand.

Right on Gunner!!

The main reason safe stack isn't being used properly...unlike load tables they require you to remove your rear-end from a forklift seat! Some of my co-workers struggle with that.

First things first, I am Radman, not Boxboss. I am a driver, not a whiteshirt. Second, to Gunner, I did not mean that you personally needed to Man Up, I don't question your work ethic or integrity. I believe you when you say you give 100% everyday. My comments are directed to ALL OF US. Things are not going well and I think they will not get better until US DRIVERS stop damaging our customers freight. Its one thing when you are late with the delivery, when you are late and the freights all F#@#ed Up, people get really upset and don't want to ship with us anymore. If enough customers don't want to ship with us, we are all going to be out looking for another job. I don't want to have to do that.

all good points... safe stack has been around many years and sad but true one shoe doesn't fit all ....I don't care what type of equp. we use every time we touch freight claims will go up....safe stack should have been put in the long bxs. going across the road 30% of our pups would have been great for now, and maybe more later. running freight withen 500 miles and not touching the freight more than two or three times....money in the bank. I know I don't have seven degrees as the gentelman who did the study for bulk centers but I do have a degree in frt......HUMAN NATURE AND NJUMBERS works everytime....as far as the bab in the trailer for straps won't work
