Yellow | Jump for Joy

I have been working for Yellow and YRC since 9/11/2001. very lousy day to start a new job, especially with 2 brothers that work in NY and one in Tower 2. Luckily both turned up alive and well although one brother lost 86 coworkers. That being said, I really believe that YRC is not going anywhere even with a no vote. This is about breaking the union and the beginning of the decline in pay for the trucking industry. with a yes vote all other trucking companies will follow suit and the spiral begins. For this reason I voted NO, givebacks do not save a sinking company. also, why is the union allowed to own part of YRC and still represent us, seems like a huge conflict of interest to me. Class action lawsuit anybody? JUST BLOWING OFF STEAM IS REASON FOR POST!!!!!!!!!

I understand the fact that Organized Labor ( Union Jobs ) are becoming hard to find. But think about this.....YRC is a Union Job & I ask U ...What Did Your Union Do To Prevent Our Current Situation? It's not like if this Company survives things are going to be on the upswing and back to the good old day's. Reality is Yes or No Votes....things are going to get far worse before they get better. I am Pro-Teamsters 25+ yrs of service .....but that doesn't change the reality of ** The Teamsters Union Seemed Helpless In This YRC Debacle ** not blaming them but clearly seeing Union Influence with Corporate America is @ a minimum in today's society !
Reality Is Hard To Accept But We Must Accept It in order to prepare for what's ahead............!

no it appears we ***** and blame all the no voters who cause this.

strange how the yes voters were so quite up until this point. Hey, anyway welcome aboard!!

The Sad thing in America, is that so many young people, think that you do not need unions, workers are over paid, and spoiled. Your right j-dawg50, the world is changing and not for the better. Those people who think they do not need a union, just work hard and all is well. We will see, soon enough when they get pay cuts and no pensions and have to go to bummer care , how they will change their attitudes. As the world turns, we will watch the days of our lives change, God help up all. :guiness:

True - there's always a plan B, it's not a plan your going to like either but there's always a plan B. The 21 years I've been in the Union has only targeted two trucking companies, Overnite and USF. The USF barn by us just signed but the Union has yet to have a meeting with them. Also both are not under the Master Freight Agreement, WHY?

Welcome to Trucking Boards YRSHEEP!

Great post.
All we need to do is look back around the time of our first concession and lo and behold Conway,ABF and some others all saw what YRC got from the teamsters and started crying poor.

Would it have mattered what anyone said, everyone voted the way they felt now we just gotta see what happens, neither the yes votes or the no votes caused this mess, it was all cause by greedy corporate idiots

come over to abf. We will give u 3 weeks vacation. After 15 years of service of course. Hell, we'll even give u 2 weeks with 8 years of service. That's the kind of deal yes votes will get ya
AND after 40 weeks they fully reinstate you in the pension plan. Those dirty SOBS

Just curious if this goes down to a no vote victory. Do we all jump up and down and celebrate?

No jump for joy, no high five'n, no celebration. If this is true it's time for everyone to get their game face on. If this IS a no vote that means we (as a union) have drawn a line that we have give back enough. It's time for everyone to get involved with their locals & express what you would accept or what in this latest give back is what you couldn't accept.
Pointing fingers of blame is not going to do us any good at this time.
I understand this game of brinkmanship might be what YRC was waiting for to close YRC freight down but IMO if they don't have a counter proposal ready just in case this happened then closing is what they had planned anyway.

They "YRC" will close. This was not a bluff! Stop already with this union BS. The teamsters couldn't give a rats ass about frieght. You should have voted yes to protect your job. Or did like me have the balls to quit and find a new one. Good luck finding a job is this market. Just be happy with your new $$10-15 hr an hour with no OT pay check

Excellent post series60 Don't think for one moment Mgt doesn't read TB I know my tm does. We all know when this company closes down the headlines will read TEAMSTERS SHUT DOWN YRCW . All the blame will fall on us has a bunch of lazy greedy union workers. YRCW shutting down, pension expiring at the end of the year, not a good time to be a union member. Best of luck to all of us.

Hey Triumph........Why dont you just get on a triumph and ride it under a tractor trailer and die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Nuff said......

Wow… A personal attack…. I bet you’re this brave over the CB radio too
I think that was a suggestion. A personal attack would have been "get on your triumph & ride in front of my tractor trailer & die" but that's not what he said.

If you already have a new job, why are you so worried about this?

Celebrate what?
The $500 unemployment check when I can't make it on nine?
Or the nonunion world which awaits?

I guess the guys whose wives pay the bills can celebrate as they sit home and feather dust.
15 years of paying too much for a mortgage gone....great.
Ho long till I get the rate I'm getting now?
And how many years to get three weeks vacation?
Probably not in this lifetime. Celebrate.
Boy we really showed them.
Great.

I thought I read in one of your post you were voting yes for everyone else..... Sounds to me like you are only worried about yourself.... "We will all survive"... If all else fails..... Get in line and file bankruptcy like you think YRC is going to do.

They just couldnt ask to extend the current concessions, as is they tried to break one off inin us without kissing us first. Rub salt in our wounds. If this vote goes no, Im staying. If it goes yes then I'm leaving because in 2 years they will bend us over again. A lot of the non unions are paying the same anyways[/QUOT

Don't leave us.... Stick around and help us out.... You will miss out on all the fun.
