Yellow | A Vote In Anger!

This paragraph says it all:

STATE OF SHOCK
The outcome of the vote stunned the company, which had been confident that the extension would be ratified. A research firm hired by YRC to poll the rank and file concluded that most members favored ratification, according to a well-placed union source.

YRC can't even hire a research firm (wonder how much that costs?) to give them accurate information.

Never make promises when your happy, never make decisions when your angry.

I promised her everything when I was happy and made the decision to change my mind when she made me angry! I guess I goofed! :biglaugh:

Great piece, the only thing I would add is the effect of lavish executive salaries and bonuses.

While I wouldn't call them lavish, I would say that the mantra of equal sacrifice they spew is a reason. The 5 mil that our appointee was to get for a yes vote did have a small part in my vote. It was a good article giving a fair view of our reasons for the outcome of the vote.

Welch was supposed to be the savior....IMHO ,he has done the best he could ...given the circumstances...put yourself in his shoes...of course they threw money at him---who in their right mind would take on this kind of responsibility......i think he did everything and anyting to keep this company afloat.....All the teamsters i guess thought their wasnt equal sacrifice...and wanted back their 15%--vacations. ect.....ask the teamster brothers still unemployed and unable to find anything close to what they had--if they would take their old job back....i guarantee you many would....how about we vote on that next--send out ballots to all the brothers who lost their jobs in this mess.....but, hey....this is what makes this job different than any other....right...we had a chance to vote....but i definatley think we didnt have enough facts or time to decifer everything....alot of BS out there.

It's about standing up for yourself. We gave, they squandered. Enough was enough. If the company showed some real progress in turning things around then maybe the vote wouldn't have been needed. I see the day-to-day operation, and its horrible. These things need to be fixed, simple efficiency issues that, system wide, would make a world of difference to the bottom line. The NO voters don't want the place to close, but, ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH!

We, The Teamsters, didn't make this mess, so why are WE asked to clean it up? Sorry, but I wasn't raised that way.

To add to that, with no advancement being made, we are faced with BS letters for stuff that is not true by management with binoculars. Countless hours waiting on loads that local management says that is out of their hands. No changes for the better, just the same-ole-same-old. These are just the tip of the iceberg. But yet, we are the bad guy.

Oh this decision wasnt made when I was mad,, I happly checked the NO box.. I will deal with any repercussions for my vote as they come, but after this company has squandered away 3.4 BILLION Dollars of Teamster donations and have nothing or no forwrd progress on their debt, why should I or any other Teamster take any more cuts?? Maybe its time for Zollars/Welch to become accountable!!

If you read the rules on who was eligible to vote you would have seen that they did get ballots. Anyone who was on layoff status, casuals that worked 1 day in the past year and just about anyone that had not resigned got ballots. Union officials could not believe the people that were eligible to vote. even with that trick they still lost.

I didn't get one for this vote, but I Did get a ballot for the first MOU After I had resigned- because it effected the pension. I didn't vote, I'm not there. I also got the Stock Option papers. Didn't use them either.

a good article. THIS IS CORPORATE GREED AT ITS FINEST

Sorry, but that's an ignorant statement made in jealousy. Which explains the 'vote of anger'. It needs to be no- the plan won't work, or yes- the plan will. Judging on emotion is 'completely illogical', per Mr Spock...

As usual you respond without reading what was printed. You RESIGNED. But you will stay on here telling everyone how they were wrong and you have the answers. Why are we not surprised.
