The local change of operations has been heard. Topeka is Reopening soon. It has been posted at the Kansas City, Mo. Terminal for six local cartage, one road driver to transfer to the road, and I believe one local cartage from Salina, Ks. to Topeka. I have been told this is the first new terminal since the merger. Interesting that this was posted by the company yesterday, although this has been common knowledge here locally for some time. This will cut down on some 250 mile a day peddle routes

Did we have 2 terminals there or just one?

It's good to see that we are expanding and maybe improving the runs for some, I'm just curious about the location since it seems to be close to KC?

We are leasing the terminal that formerly was used by the carrier who bought the former Yellow terminal. Roadway closed their Topeka terminal close to 15 years ago. Topeka is about 70 miles from KCM. But their service area was huge. Topeka has grown, somewhat recently with a fairly new Target DC, Home Depot DC a new Mars chocolate DC and a 60 year old Goodyear plant. Sales department feels YRC can grow some of this business. Linehaul up the Kansas Turnpike to Topeka will be a triple lane, so they think that will help with cost. Plus, there already is a billing center in Topeka, at a different location.
