Looking for a little info on this barn, such as, hours available to work and Hrly pay.
I presently work full time driving( non CDL)and go to school at nights( 2 classes @ nite for this sememster).
Will they work with you on availability?
I do have my CDL and some Exp.,but, I know its not worth my FT job and college reimbursment for a on call position.

And yes I have worked for other LTL companies doing outbound/Inbound & hostling.

Thanks for any information,
Mr.V

Honestly years ago I would have said jump on it quick man Today I would say Run Go to FedEx they play almost the same games but pay way better so at least you will have that going for you !! good luck out there !!

As a lowly flex guy, it is hard to say if they will work with you on hours.. Flex guys are on call depending on if they run an AM or PM flex board.

I'll tell you going to college and doing LTL work will kill you. I did it for 2 years running linehaul and taking 15 credits a semester. Not sure how I am still alive honestly.

Look at Old Dominion. Stay away from this place.

You can't get good info. On here. A lot of ex employees whom don't care about anything. Every place is different..

I applied to FedEx Freight (Bristol) and Conway.
Conway happened to respond first.

People can tell the truth or their experiences and not have an axe to grind. Con-way is like boot camp, meet another driver and he probably had a ****ty con-way experience as well.

You're probably not going to get "set" hours. You're going to get jerked around, it's the con way. Go get a good job. Hell, you could cut grass and end up making 12.75/hr.

They can only jerk you around if you let them. He has no job now and he can tell the boss he had none before he started there...if he gets jerked around. One jerk and toodlooo will stop it right there.
MrV is back, and at college too, congratulations and I hope things work out for you.

Is $12.75 starting hrly rate?
At least that's a higher rate than YRC PT Casual dock.
Like I said , you don't get good info. On this conway board. The bitter ones clog things up with their opinions. Its not the best paying dock job..but you would have to call them and find out the pay rate.. and like abfer said, good luck to you.

How are things going for you At ABF.
Boy do I have alittle story about dealing with corporate office and TM's. But that's a PM someday I'll share with you.
On the other hand, thank you and going back to school PT is a challenge.

I can't complain beyond our recent 7% pay cut. Putting in your time has its advantages after 20 years. I'd like to hear your story.

people don't like it when I say it, but same thing at conway..put in your 20 years and your good. Because, just like ABF, nobody at the top is quiting. It' an easy money job.

And I would like to add, with the 7% paycut, they are still more than most with the pay scale. some of conway, in fact. Especially on dock..if you can get on.

I wouldn't buy into con way until they get their reputation back for being driver friendly, I worked at a small barn (less than 30 dsr) and seen 16 drivers come and go in 4 years and none of which was a retirement.

part time dock workers in my barn work 5 hours a day, inbound is usually 4-9 5-10 or 6-11 Outbound is 3-8 It's not rocket science. 13 bucks an hour and you dont have to use your brain.
