The vacation sucks at abf but full pension contribution would be my selling point. At the current contribution it takes yrc 20 years to get 5 years credit....

And I know several senior drivers here that plan to move to ABF for their last year. This will bring them up to full pension and the vacation wouldnt be a factor

We just hire one, he has 11 years he is in his low 50s & that is his plan....

Giving back 15% of what? They gave nothing back. They weren't here for the vote nor was their pay ever reduced because they werent here. They have the deduction but what are they deducting it from? They are told what the starting wage is and thats what they are paid.

Happy that at your barn that they were told what the pay was , but it is not that way at all barns , Have a Nice day

Well if I was starting a new job one of the first questions I asked was how much do I get payed,

It isn't a reduction if you agree to start at the current scale

Add, whether or not the area in which you apply has a solvent pension fund.

Why make the change if the fund in which you are a member is in danger of going belly up?

How can you apply for a job and not ask what you will be paid?! If these guys dont know what their wage was when they interviewed, then they really are stupid.
 
309 spotters going to abf that I doubt, first off where would they sleep???? There's no sleepers in there yard

Let me clarify...no spotter here is going to abf. What I meant was not enough full time spotters or dock me to fill the July bid. And that if a new hire would go anywhere they would go to abf. I know all the new casual dock men that have been hired here don't last long. If they turn down a call they let them go.

Its a crapshoot. Go to ABF and have no vacation for 8 years

No wrong again! You get one week after two years. Plus new hires start out at 90% of the current rate for one year and then get bumped up to full rate! Come July we get two % back of the seven they took. Paying full pension, I know where I'd. Rather be!

Yeah I know one week after 2 years and then you dont get another week until 8 years. My point is if i were new to the industry, I wouldn't go to either yrc or abf. For a driver at yrc with the pension time but not the age I would go to abf and get my last year to bring my pension up and then leave.

True, then my next reason would be 15% giveback for another 5 years & last would be the equipment....

A truth that most people fail to understand is that the value of anything - our labor, possessions, objects, etc. - is only determined by what someone is willing to pay for that labor, object, etc. I can go through life believing my labor is worth $100 per hour, but if someone is only willing to pay me $20 per hour, that's all I'm worth regardless of what I may think. Same applies to objects, homes, shares of stock, anything else. This concept is difficult for some to accept.

When a new hire applies and interviews they are told what the starting wage is. When the giveback started we took a wage cut. New hires didnt take a wage cut, they werent here. They are giving back nothing and have no gripe. Its like the people who move next to the airport and then complain about the noise.
