FedEx Freight | Teamsters Roll Call...Who's getting the ball rolling?

At ups freight we pay for insurance ( only union freight outfit that does) family coverage is 33 a week. Which is great, vs other freight outfits, we like all the rest of freight outfits ( union n non) use contractors or purchase trucks, to run our freight. We also can file a greivence on contractors also. Example if the memphis barn has a contractor run up to chicago and in chicago they have a contractor run back to memphis, then we file a grevence, and most the time the ups freight road gets a new run. I believe that having a union behind is safer (job security) then not having one. And yes our leadership (hoffa) needs to go. He lacks the leadership skills that his father had. Good luck fed ex, i

Nobody wants to work here now. Why are they hell bent on getting rid of everybody? Could it be because they are that stupid? Yep...that s gotta be it..
You should all read lesson 4 of the driver manual that just got updated last week. It's the driver disqualification policy and it's very scary.

Yes, it's bizarre to say the very least. ST will sit there having you believe that the freight guys here are a bunch of accident prone slackers that need weeding out, but I personally just don't see this type of behavior. Maybe the NE and SE are wayyy different then the West in that respect but I just don't think so

New hires today are almost worthless. They pass the background and drug test so they get hired. Every trucking company is hurting for people. Now all we get are slackers who want the freight to levitate itself into wherever it needs to go. Been around freight since out of the service. It isn't what it used to be. As for IBT, you can have them but I can't stand them. I watched my locals corruption and saw the leadership go to prison. It wasn't because they fought for me, it was money and murder.

As for the lunch thing, be careful. States have strict laws concerning lunch and California will nail the company with big fines. Jerry Brown had the pay stub law changed because NFI was screwing their people out of hours. Now any hours worked have to be shown and if you didn't take a lunch get ready for the screws.

I dont understand how you can say you make more then the union workers, first we dont pay for are health insurance, we can work all of the overtime we care to work, from what I hear from the fdx drivers no overtime hell there lucky if they get 32hrs on a 4/10 week. Then theres the times when you do make a mistake and they give you some of them points.

I would not bad mouth the union. I have been retired for 17 years and with SS and pension, my yearly gross is at 46000. I was a steward and BA and the biggest problems with a lot of union truck drivers were they were womanizers and alcoholics. So many of them have passed away that I knew. I am 80 here and saw a lot of things out there that you could see and the biggest help that I can pass along to all is to work and do your job and quit listening to the cry babies out there that want something for nothing. I am aware that there was a lot of corrupt fellows in the union but they kept their bargain for me and I am enjoying retirement. The biggest problem today is the govenment giving into rediculous things that truck drivers has to adhere to and that is not necessary. They put burdens on companies that causes them to treat drivers like they do. This deliver on time stuff does not get it. Good luck to all of you that adhere to good working ethics.

Personally, I think it's by design. Our newbees run run run... Answer the phone (while driving) when dispatch calls, pull overweight tlrs. etc etc. Plus they are part of the "just happy to have a job" crowd. I doubt they'll sign, so best to get this ball rolling before there are enough of them to make the difference... Then you see some old timers posting here how the (minimal) dues would be better put in their 401k... Really? Invest in a good calculator, please. Insanity, if you ask me.

At least allow a vote. Nothing to loose and everything to gain.

Truth be told we're getting too many hours for the past few months... I've had to refuse to keep making pick ups due to the 14 hour rule. And NO, i'm not filling out the paper work to allow 16. That is not what the extension is for. Plenty of OT lately. PLENTY

You would think that we were having a YRCW Change of Operations (COO) going on here this weekend. :LMAO:

Anybody know what the highest "Viewing Record" is here at the FXF forum at one time???

:shift:

Just do it guys.... only takes one terminal at 51% majority to make history. Then all of the rest can follow suit. Gone will be the days of ********* management treating you like garbage. Gone will be the days of worrying about silly points. FYI... The NMFA clearly states that cameras cannoy be used for disciplinary purposes. Guess that will cost some management jobs... bottom line is this... it isn't all roses but the fact that you have say in what time you start each day and what run you take and how much OT you want gotta be worth something. Add to the fact that if management brings some silly BS to you for disciplinary action, you have recourse. Go for it and do not look back. It'll shake the LTL world good!!!

I used to be completely against the union. Now I'm just against it. I am in agreement though. At least let them vote for or against. FedEx needs some changes or I might change my mind to, pretty much against the union.

Union dues have nothing to do with any retirement plan. Union dues are used to pay the salaries of your representation, office personnel and other associated expenses that go toward keeping the lights on at the hall.
Pension contributions like 401k matches are paid by the employer.

I realize that and agree. I was speaking of guys like this one:

I understand what you are saying, BUT, I don't have enough time left to work for it to help me now. I am old enough now to draw SS. I would rather put my money(union dues) into my 401k. For this reason and this reason ONLY I would have to vote no.
And please, no one tell me I need to think about helping those coming up behind me, because I'm sure they are not going to think about helping me when I'm gone from here.

Seems to me he's got nothing to loose. I don't get it.

It's not just drivers or dock workers that are fed up with all this new BS that is being pushed. Our health insurance is worthless, plus we are forced to treat our people like defendants in a court trial. We are supposed to back each other against anything that does not have a red shirt. God forbid you refuse to follow their lead because of your principals, you will become the blacksheep and start getting letters to file(write ups) for anything. Thats the reason I dont want to keep moving up at FedEx. Its absurd.

Also it seems that if you dont yell at people and belittle them you are NOT holding them accountable. How about you talk to the person, find out why things are not being done like they are supposed to, do they need more training, is there something going on at home probably? Nooooo we dont care!, just work faster than you logically can and make sure you cram up ten hours worth of dock work into 8 and its your fault if you dont wrapp up a cycle in less time than it actually needs, specially with all the new hires that are not even trained long enough to know how to use a fork lift. Also have a driver arrive with his set, break it, plug it, get on the dock, chase his own freight to try and make the gate and when he misses it due to not having all the freight in, you write him up for" excessive time to perform a task"

If you do organjze, consider floor sups and negotiate making them hourlies also because im tired of working twelves and being paid ren, and mi d you being paid less then other carriers. I'm working ten hours for free a week, its just abusive.

You can get everyone involved... drivers, dockworkers, mechanics, office personnel... stop being treated like **** and be treated like a human being. Corporate america thinks they can walk all over people and discard them at will. A good union will not let that happen. Don't flush all of your hard work down the toilet because some 20 something year old supervisor didn't like how you got out of a tractor or wants to castrate you because you didn't sign a delivery receipt correctly. Teamster benefits are worth their weight in gold. Now a days, this alone is worth the price of admission. You guys need to take a stand. Hey Conway drivers, are you listening to this??? You know they are....
