TForce | Here's a fantastic tidbit about our teamcare insurance!

I'm a wife of a road driver. I have to disagree with this being better insurance. It stinks. I am a diabetic. At my husbands local, they were told that this so called TeamCare was EQUIL or BETTER than what you guys had from UPS. Boy, was that a big FAT LIE. I have to go on cheaper insulin, my daughter has to use a cheaper inhaler. Many of our Drs. are not in network. And when you call for information, you get the run around from the reps at BCBS. And the rudeness from them is terrible.

The exact opposite here. Everything is either the same or better...

Don't get injured away from work and be off over a week, about two months later you will get a statement from the hospital telling you that their bill was not paid by team care due to your coverage being cancelled while you were off.

You have 6 months of disability insurance which also includes continued health benefits.

I just got the book from Teamcare last week,..

I'm pretty sure it says there are 6 months of short term disability with continued health benefits,.......

Well I guess Team Care did not get the memo because the memo I got from them was "since your injury was not work related you ARE not covered, if you would like us to cover this hospital bill, please submit the COBRA payment at once"

I think this is an issue that we need to bring up to our locals. They are supposed to be there for us but it seems like they are abandoning us!!

Did you apply for short term disability?

I just got the bills for $4700.00 worth of X-rays, Cat scan and lots of lab tests that were taken over a couple of weeks. Team care paid 100% of these bills.

Now what if you were off fmla for 2 weeks. Would you still have insurance?

From what I have seen with a few employees that were out on disability, they still had their full health care benefits, but you must pay your weekly premium while you are out to maintain your health benefits.

They also have to remember to "use" the benefits afforded to them with the secondary card that includes Lab Card, Humana, EyeMed, US Imaging and CVS Caremark. Usually a pre-schedule is necessary.

If someone is a smoker and wants to quit by using Chantix, their doctor can put in a request and it will be paid for free using the CVS Caremark portion for up to 2 quits a year.

I've had a CT scan and MRI done for free. It actually awesome when you use US Imaging. One exception is if it's a work comp issue...than it's a no go.

The TeamCare Summary Plan Description that was mailed out is pretty handy and informative.

I'm hearing after 12 months of being on work comp and paying your portion/percentage of your insurance you get kicked off and put into Cobra.
Can anyone confirm this? Was this the same way prior to TeamCare?

I don't think they can stop HC if you are on comp

That's what I'm assuming. It should continue and you should be able to make your portion of the payments until you return to work full duty no restrictions.
However, someone said there is a 12 month cap.

But if the lab and hospital were not in your plan it would not be covered.
My spouse has to get a cat scan and mri every three months, for the plan to cover it my spouse has to drive over two hours away to one of their providers.

That happens sometimes. I had to go out of my city to get a specialist, since there were non in the area
