As many of you know,, or may not....I've been a team player at CT for awhile now.
I was a Vitran guy, left years before buy out and went to CT. Worked as Manager, Regional Director and
Manager of Special Projects. Been in LTL since I was 16. I don't know everything but, I know
what works and what doesn't. I've given my life to CT past few years...Traveled..Cleaned up many terminals...
Instructed many new managers...And no one cares.
Finally, I'm gone!!!!
Off to a wonderful nation wide LTL Carrier who is consistently profitable and who truly wants my services.
I've been the "CT Cheerleader" for far too long!!!!
My advice, don't step foot on their property. Or get out now! They are truly a carrier who wants nothing
more than to **** people off and be a tax write off....

Heck I seen about 5 Central/Vitran trucks last night in indiana, can't be that bad people still go to work for them. Just not me, never would, I would be a trash man before steppin that low.
 
I will still be around the boards watching :)
I love this industry...It's not a must for me it's a choice.
I enjoy the people, the challenge and the business in general. Central just makes it so you have no control...Even if your ways are proven and theirs obviously aren't, your still nothing but a baby sitter almost.
My finally straw was when a 22 year old girl called me and told me how I should
run my terminal...her past was assistant shift manager at Pizza Hut before central....

He gone!

I tried to warn you about taking a management position......Your hard headed LTL guy......Sales or driving is the only way to go.
 
Good Luck LTLGUY2013, been in your shoes for years, Vitran was a Ok company at one time good to work for except for a few like Steve V... What a jerk! I built my terminal from 24 bills a day to over 200 a day until CT buy out and all customers stopped shipping. CT upper management will lie to your face; equipment is the worse in the business, glad I left when I did!

Ya you managers soon find the managing challenges at ct are with yourself!! LOL!!! Manage yourself and not kill someone...or tell your superior to keester a pinapple

So much is not freight or drivers...its funny

If this is Greg, you need to take yourself to oilfield..2 more years of school and be a boss on the oilpad..50 to 85 an hour...youd' be good at it, you interact right with men...earn a few mens respect and work gets done..

I saw that my last TM's degree was in horticulture/history....WTF?

I understand how/why things dont change at ct...40 mil a year profit? ya lets not change anything.....

I am surprised at thier overall profitablility tho...I spend more than I make many nights...

It's Central Transport.....The most horrible working conditions you could ever imagine......Unless your just looking for a stepping stone until something better comes along I would simply tell you.....Run like hell.
 
maybe I've already surpassed "your level" you're probably a little twerp with short man syndrome trying to make people think you're a big shot
 
No, I'm sure you haven't. Your probably a butt hurt driver just pissed at everyone who makes you actually work for a living
