Has anybody else received a letter from a company called Asurint that is a consumer reporting agency working on behalf of AbF? I received one Yesterday and it states that their reporting matters of public record including criminal history information.it says ABF is using such public record information to determine eligibility for employment,promotion,reassignment,and/or retention! Is this something they do on a regular basis? There's a phone number to call with questions which I think I'm going to use to see whats up.

I would take the letter to your steward, and even to your driver sup. just to check,as well as checking with other people to see if THEY also got the same letter.
Just thinking!!!!!

Did not get one of those here as of yet but I did get a notice a while back from when ABF had a third party to investigate my motor vehicle record. I do not recall what company sent it. It did have some verbiage in it that I thought was odd.

It's a legit corporation. One of the players in the background check world.

I imagine ABF could do a data dump to them with employee information, have them run background checks on everybody. Asurint could then spit back any inconsistencies regarding unreported accidents, lies on job applications, things that would certainly aid ABF in cleaning house if they need to. Meanwhile, the fact that ABF vetted their employees could be netting them decent breaks on insurance rates.

I understand how to be off when I need to, believe me I have a plan for Thanksgiving, but I see guys saying its in the contract we don't have to work on a hard holiday. I just want to see where that is at in the contract because I can't find it. Thanks

I am the steward! Ok herd an update. Most guys in my barn have received one.According to my tm it's something that the dot is now requiring companies to do annually! I made a phone call to my union rep and he is now well aware of it! He said he was going to look deeper into it.

I always get a letter annually from the state alerting me that the company has checked my driving record for violations. It is important to inform the company if you get a citation even driving your POV.

NOT only that,IT'S THE LAW!!!!!

Companies have done that for ever. However because of the Consumer Protection Bureau established by the DEMOCRATS, Employers have to tell you they are using consumer information. Basicly if you don't pay your bills you are a bad employment risk and have a high probability of being dishonest.

Not true you say? Well in the Republican-dream-world that is just how life is. Sucks don't it when you keep voting Republican and then they just keep sticking it to you in favor of big business?!

And yes I know both parties are corrupt . . but I would rather vote for a party that somewhat sides with the little guy rather then vote for a party that NEVER sides with the little guy.

People with low credit scores, statistically, present a higher risk to employ....we can argue the reasons all day long and those who disagree with me will still be wrong ;) ;)

I think they should use our eBay ratings, they are much more meaningful to me than anyone's credit score.

Everyone in our barn got letters from Asurint. I am the steward here, so I got the flak. Asurint is an information collection agency that is contracted to ABF to verify your driver's license information. You didn't think they were going to take your word for it, did you? Apparently, Asurint has been doing this for years, but as Bro. Snark Monkey has pointed out, recent changes in credit and consumer information laws now require companies to notify you when they are,..........or already have,.........meddled around with your personal information. .....(....Thank you Elizabeth Warren!....)....I suspect we'll start seeing many such notices in the future,....as it becomes apparent to everyone just how much Big Business pries into your private life. By the way,.....when I got hired 22 years ago at ABF,...I was told they did a credit check on me,.....as standard employment procedure.

I have not heard of anyone in Atlanta getting any letters or notices of any kind regarding background checks or any company called Asurint.

Ask your Terminal Manager about Asurint, Brother Homesick. In fact, if you go on InfoRoundtable, I believe you will see the corporate response to questions about Asurint. I think it was several months ago that the first wave of Asurint questions came out. You can ask them again,....for I think that the driver's license checks they are doing aren't being done company-wide all at the same time. You guys in Atlanta just haven't gotten them yet. The thing that makes everyone kind of queasy about these letters,...is there's no explanation as to why,....or who authorized,....these checks on your license. It LOOKS like someone's stolen your identity,...and tried to open some sort of an account,.....that's the conclusion I came to, anyway. It would help greatly if ABF would notify us that a third party is contracting out the driver's license checks,.....but I guess that would be too much of a bother to inform their employees what's going on......
