I believe that the reason for the anti-union push, is because they don't want to negotiate. It all comes down to how this company perceives you and me the driver. They don't trust us, we are all trying to milk the clock and goof off. Why you ask....Just ask them what their bonuses are based on....NUMBERS. Period. We work here for a reason....several to be exact. But the biggest is for the all important paycheck....That thing we get to make our way through life AFTER the government and the company get done taking what they want. If sweeping out trailers and loading freight correctly was connected to a number the jack-wagons depended on for their bonus, their would be spotless trailers and perfect routes....Every day. But, our trailers look like a wood chipper was used before loading and if your lucky...Your first stop might be on the tail. Yard times, SPH, returns, appointment deliveries made, OT percentage, Cut times, trailer close times, bills per hour, etc.....That's what drives this insanity. They don't trust us in the city, because according to their "freight engineers" ie....Logistics numbers crunchers...They say that this/that is the goal....and with a cattle prod...The dispatchers/OM/SCM push and push and push....Well, it's my safety and my CDL. You don't own me or the license I busted my butt to keep clean. I used to think that this was the be all to end all. But if this is the pinnacle of the LTL trucking industry....I can take my happy tail somewhere else if I chose. But, I don't want to. I like my job, and what I do. I came here 12+ years ago, because this was the best...I wanted to work for FedEx. Look what it's turned into. Management don't trust employees, employees don't trust management. And how did that happen....It's called turning this company into a FedEx model company. You see, they need to purge the majority of the AF, Viking and Watkins drivers....And there is a timeline for this....Everyone remembers the way things were under those respective companies....all were profitable, treated their drivers good...That's they only reason why Fred bought them...But, this whole mindset of employees being first just had to go. Look how fast things went into overdrive when Mr. Garrison tragically drowned. If he were alive today, and still on the board....Would he consent to this? I think not. He took care of the people who took care of him. I challenge anyone to dispute anything I have said....I have experienced everything I have said....May not happen in your barn...But it sure as hell happens in mine....
