What are you opinions on ELDs?

We just got Qualcomm/Omnitracs MPC200's in our trucks. Does anyone know how to make these things display the actual time and not just your DOT remaining time? Can't find any options in the settings menu, just wondered if anyone knows of any hidden settings menu. We just got rid of PeopleNets and that's one thing I really miss about them. Thanks!

Sorry, should have clarified. I meant the option of viewing the actual time while the truck is moving/going down the road.

I don't think you could ever do that because its a safety feature built in ....you'll just have that blue screen with the dot time on it.

they don't want you to mess with it while you're driving down the road ....that would be considered distracted driving

Don't want to mess with it while I'm driving. Just want to look at it and see the actual time as well as the DOT time.

Just wondering if anyone knows how to get it to display the actual time while moving, or if anyone has this feature enabled on their unit and it's just disabled on ours.

Can't you set the AM/FM radio to show the current time? Or does the carrier you drive for not equip the trucks with radios?

Ok .... I understand better now what you are asking for. ...

Touch the dot time in the upper right hand corner in the small box. ..it will change to a clock for short time

At OD we've used PeopleNet for the past five years,If we have trouble its usually with the dispatch function. As far as I'm concerned paper logs belong in the boneyard with cab-overs,two stroke Detroit Diesels, and spring suspensions.

Oh dear, shall we give this to another driver, Dean?:lmao:

Wow. I haven't been out of the seat for 6 months yet and the terminology has changed. What the Hell is "ELD"?
I was thinking the same thing, was to shy to ask, thanks for asking. Electronic logs? I think I have some of them In my gas fireplace. :lmao::biglaugh:

My truck broke down Tuesday and I had to drive a rental to get home, which meant using paper logs. I will pray with all my heart that I never have to go back to paper logs again.

We have Teletrac E.L.D. installed in our vehicles however I've yet to read anything describing HOW the silly system is operated.
Overall, it appears to be worse than using P.C. Miler for directions AND, as has been offered by the company Owner/Driver, the system will offer pointless and worthless routes to "save a mile", so I'm not very interested in it's use as P.C. Miler offers pointless and worthless and sometimes dangerous to equipment (low tree branches) routes to "save a mile".
The only UPSIDE is that all info is transmitted to the Base wherein NO information is stored in the units thereby negating any potential common problems from the Revenue Retards or R.R. (not to be confused with our T.B. R.R. a.k.a. RickyRicardo).
E.L.D. technology has NOT BEEN, to me, THOROUGHLY PROVEN EFFECTIVE, there 4 eyel stick with the comedy pages.

I have, since December, 2014, been utilizing a new form of signing the comedy pages in that I do NOT sign them. There is NO requirement in the F.M.C.S.R. stating anything required to sign them yet lacking such requirement, somehow we drivers, me, can receive some sort of non O.O.S. violation. I'm not the lone wolf at the company I'm with who doesn't sign comedy pages.

L.E.D. has been proven effectively SAFE technology.

I have no choice in using L.S.D. (looking forward to the end of the flashbacks) yet I do have a choice in using D.E.F. and D.E.F. is more worthless than L.S.D., yet this topic is about E.L.D.'s.

(Post # 17) Stimpy = Electronic log device. ....operated by elfs....magical
ELFs appear to be Electronic Logging Freaks...............end of line
