What happens when your send a 15 year old trailer out one too many times?

The rear unit falls off the ceiling and all the freon leak out into the trailer. Both units then read 60° when the outside temperature is 50°. 1 1/2 hours later, we transfered the load to the other trailers and the take-along van. Problem solved. I'm way too old and fat for that much work.

We have 3 trailers that are 19 years old(I had of them today). They just won't die, LOL. They run better then some of our new trailers. And we don't have any units on the ceiling, only the main unit on the front :-)

All our trailers are set up with dual units. This is the first time I've seen one fall off the ceiling. I'm not sure how they are mounted, but this one is definitely going to have to be reworked.

All of Syscos had two units, how do you maintain freezer and cooler at different temps with one unit?

Them 2 zone trailers can be

Entire trailer is straight load and set at 27. Everything comes out the back, produce is covered with a blanket. They have been doing that way for 10 years now.

You mean no side door? that sounds like a great idea!!
Yup, no side door unloading. My former supervisor, now the company VP put that in place when he was promoted from driver to supervisor. He said side door unloading resulted in to many injuries. I agree. Now all the side doors have pad locks on them, LOL.

I agree totally, I don't know haw many guys fell working the side door. Not to mention damaged product from stacking it in the door and then knocking it to the ground when trying to climb out.

Never had one fall off, but I had one a few months ago that probably would have. I had two load locks holding it up whenever I went down the road.

We have no shortage of side door work at GFS.

I know, how quick can you usually get through your bulkhead?

Last Monday I didn't get through the bulk head until the last stop. It varies, however sometimes it can and will take all day. I mean like Thursday our second stop was the biggest of the day and it was a retirement home no way I was making it through the bulk head there. 75 cases through the side door and up the stairs there's no thinking you're way out of that one. It's just how it is, nothing I could do.
Sometimes the side door though can be nice it's not all bad because there have been stops where we were empty enough and ran the whole delivery out of the side door it's not all bad, however it isn't all great easy and certainly is open for it's own set of failures. Like there's a little step, that you can pull out, but if you don't remember to put that step in you can get it wrapped around the drives and it's not good so I don't use the step because it's easier just not to get into the habit of using it.

R's company is right on with the way they do there loading and eliminating the side door.

Yes we can and it is nice because if you have a big freezer or a stop where you can run it in from the street off the side you can set up the ramp and run it from the side it does have some nice pros.

Yeah that makes the side door much better, at Sysco we couldn't do that with most of ours which sucked. You had to stack everything in the door then get down and stack it on your two wheeler.

My boss a few years ago chewed me a new one for coming off the porch and down the stairs with my back to them, I had always done it like that untill the toe of my boot hung up on one of the steps and I did a face plant in the concrete, now I coe down the steps facing them, and I have bout fell off that porch many times.

Guardrail, yes doing a face plant into the concrete is what happened...LOL!!
