I know what you mean.I would be cool with all this if they hadn't stolen my family life and taken my money.

in the Greater Pittsburgh area,...covering Allegheny and Westmoreland county,....and two ABF terminals,....we have Aramark,...they are Union,....and Iron City Uniform Supply,...Teamsters in Local #249,.....my choice, if I had a choice,...But , Yes,....there are Union vendors available. Coyne, I believe, has Union employees at many sites.....Cintas, however,...has been placed on the "naughty" list by the Needle Trade Workers of America,..as being violently anti-Union..........It's like they're deliberately trying to insult us...........Makes you wonder whose idiot brother-in-law down in Arkansas got the Cintas contract......dont you guys have coyne textile services in your area? blue and yellow trucks?
And,....Yes , Coyne is here in Pittsburgh. not sure if they're Union. I think they are, though...Not here unless they're running layover bids. Pittsburgh has one though.
You mean BR549 isn't a proper response?Well,....That was interesting. I went to ABFatWork to log in and see if Brother Von got an answer to his question,....and I was informed that I had to "update" my personal information. They wanted my cell phone and home phone numbers. My local terminal has my home phone,.....but I refuse to give them my cell phone number.....I certainly won't give anyone at corporate headquarters my personal number. They also wanted two "emergency" contacts.......Why?......They aren't going to do me much good in Arkansas if I have an emergency........Since I won't provide what I consider information that's none of their business,.....I can't log in to their site......
You know it wouldn't surprise me that they didn't plan on providing all drivers with uniforms, only those who are in front of the public. We were told Friday that only those on driving bids were to be fitted for uniforms. Those on dock and yard bids were ineligible
Article 6???? Oh my God. My terminal is replete with Article 6 violations.Article 12 does not differentiate between employee classification. If the company provides a service for one group, it must provide it unilaterally. Anything else is a violation of Article 6,.....where they can't make individual deals with employees. Don't forget to ask if the vendor is a Union vendor. Ask to see his Union card.

Well my local is backing us so far.(see my post a couple back) The are enforcing the all or none anyway. They cannot make uniforms mandatory without making everyone wear them.I believe that road drivers, UE and dock workers are ineligible for the current uniform program because they do not get face time with customers. I would expect this round to be the same but I feel as though it is a violation of labor laws seeing as it is an economic issue. Don't count on the IBT to back you on it though.
I believe a grievance was heard on it when the UE's couldn't get clothes with the latest program and they lost (no surprise).Well my local is backing us so far.(see my post a couple back) The are enforcing the all or none anyway. We need everyone to push this!!!
You have more faith than I do in our contract and it's enforcement. I feel like I'm working in a semi-union environment where I get some benefit for my money but not what I should. I feel like I'm just an unwanted pest to the people who are supposed to be working for us.When we raised the Art. 12 issues here in W. Pa., the uniform program got..."put on hold"....for a few weeks, according to my B.A.. I believe there are some high-level talks going on at the Ft. Smith - IBT level. Seems like another case of "Yeah, yeah, sure,...Whatever you want..."...Until some of us hold them to the contract........
You and me both, ABFer.I believe a grievance was heard on it when the UE's couldn't get clothes with the latest program and they lost (no surprise).

And we'll see more of this. I knew it when the whole deal went down. I'm pretty sure you saw it too but the others wouldn't listen to us.We did file a grievance,...... And lost it, precisely because the current program is.,...."voluntary ",.....and doesn't follow the parameters of Art.12. What worries me more is ABF's unfettered spending on nonoperational things and ruining any chance of seeing a" bonus" ..........deliberately, I might add....
