Yellow | Layoffs at YRC

When there is Freightquote.com,CH Robinson, and Echo Global Logistics, and the such why do u need sales people? That is where this industry has been heading for a long time now! We canned excuse me let go according to management two sales people at 152 about two weeks ago!

Did you only have 2 ? Well now you're all Driver/Sales Reps.

With many shippers a good salesperson with the right personality and attitude can be a real asset in terms of getting and keeping the freight coming. Obviously not all salespeople have those characteristics and not all shippers would care either. Besides, good salespeople have been known to occasionally bring in crumb cake from B&W for the P&D drivers in the morning right Roady?
That B&W crumb cake did wonders for us and her.:clapping: :coffee1: :encouragement:

I will not be coming back for sure. The terminal I was domiciled in, one rep retired recently and they are not hiring anyone else. I heard that the reps are only assigned to 125 accounts that have good potential and inside sales took all the other accounts. So, everything is in house if it is not assigned to an outside rep. No ifs ands or butts, 40 calls a week, office Monday AM, Wednesday afternoon and Friday afternoon. 125 accounts, average 20 workdays, 200 calls a month, that averages 1.6 calls to each customer a month. I had customers who didn't want to see me every month. If they needed me I would be there for them. Most of the reps have been selling ltl for 20+ years and we didn't need babysitters to watch over us. The few they have hired for territories are inexperienced and are getting paid a lot less money. There was your cost savings. Inside sales is now making bonus money on the accounts that were taken off the outside reps. Inside sales never made bonuses before this happened. Didn't mean to vent but honestly I have never worked in 26 years of selling for a poorly managed company. Thinking about going to do the dark side and become a broker.

I guess that settles it then. Now the sales reps will have uniforms too. :hysterical:

Best of luck to you freightgal !! I know exactly what your talking about . I have been away from management for 5 years now and it was the best in move in my life to get laid off ..

I was "laid off" from sales in January due to the reduction in force. I couldn't be happier. The stress level and micro managing was unreal. I have been in transportation for 30 years starting in my early 20's starting at Roadway then to Yellow and then the merge into YRC. I can assure you I will never go back into this industry. I was appalled at what was done to what was once two great companies. I wish everyone the best of luck and hope everything works out in their job search.

Thank you for your service and best of luck to you in your new endeavors. This clustersuck of the company is being run like a third world business as we are looking and scratching our heads as to what is the real purpose of YRC. Good personnel got these companies to where they used to be and now its a who's who of misfits and wanna bee management (for the record not all but we know who).

yrcemp don't feel bad leaving cause this used to be a proud career to be a part of, but now this is nothing but a job.....

Vacation time B-R-G, summer time approaching a few retiring, vacations and a spike of freight to the system... personally May has been slow this year in what would normally a busy month.
