FedEx Freight | is it just me or is freight extremely slow for this time of year?

I get called almost every Tuesday and asked if I want the day off. Since the middle of November I have only worked six whole weeks.( I'm not complaining.) I run over 3200 a week, I guess that I'm getting old and lazy. I will work when I have to but right now it just feels good.

I agree totally! I like 5 day work week paychecks, but I'm at a point in my life that 4 day work weeks are healthier for my well being. Road life sucks as it is without killing myself 5 days in a row

In my state. ...the first day the company doesn't call you into work qualifies you for unemployment. If you work a partial week....less than normal hours. ..you get a partial unemployment check. ..providing you qualify.

We are at capacity here most days inbound & outbound plus well above at the end & beginning of the month. I wish I would get that call to stay home. I would gladly volunteer off and let a bottom guy work.

In CLT we set center records one day last week for bills delivered, bills picked up, and bills moved across the hub...I agree with The Point, it would be nice to have a day off!

Working the HUB at CLT (Charlotte NC ) at night on my shuttle run there seems to be no real let up. You may catch an early night once in a while but the levels are steady to busy. Rail vans / cans keep the propane draining. I have noticed the "liberal time off policy" has kicked us in the short hairs 'specially on Fridays. Last week I back stripped pups just to load on to purchase trailers (PIGS) that were 'Called in" because there were not enough drivers available to cover the bids. When you get PIGS that have no means to deck or segregate the freight, that's where the dollar damages add up.

Before I left, my center was barely moving any freight at all. I was moving maybe 3 bills to TOL and returning with 9. I was recycling the same empty 4 days out of every week

U.S factory orders are down to 2009 levels. Reason for concern imo for those who follow these numbers. Consumer confidence is wayyyyy down. Feds are keeping rates at 0% and that in itself is troubling

I agree buttercup. I always HATED to be the guy who opened the swing doors on those trailers. CRASH....BOOM...BAH!!!

Southeast area is slow. Uncertainty of the economy is fueling a slowdown in GDP and Imports IMO. I don't see it improving until the current idiot figurehead leaves the WH.
Actually the stock market is going great guns under this idiot in the W/H wouldn't you say? The CEO'S are making more and more every year while you guys aren't doing as good .
