Just asking around about this would like to hear from others. I have ALWAYS been able to elect not to burn vacation or personal time when I was off from work. Now that I am at another location it's either use your time and get paid or if you don't have any time you have to call in. If I need a day off and I feel like I can get by with missing that days pay then why should it matter to any one else. Now just so everyone knows I have made the phone calls and just like every other legit questions NO one can seem to answer the question "Why do I have to use my vac time to take a day off"?
Everybody I randomly ask about this they say we don't have to burn our time unless we want to we can take it with no pay.
Just curious to hear from others!!!

Wastold one time it was up to CM Me personally if its not a policy how can a CM enforce it one way or the other.
One more reason we need a rule book to go by.

Interesting...There were times before where a / my run would be cut, not so much now a days but the choice was given whether I wanted "time" for that day off. The question would be posed as," Do you want any vacation time, personal time for the night that was cut?" I've responded with, " no time needed, I'll eat it and save the accrued days". No push back or further discussions followed. Not sure if there is an interpreted difference.

This is how it was explained to us.....if you ask for a day off with no pay and there's plenty of spots available on the vac calendar, then no problem...if you're asking for a day off with no pay vs another driver who is willing to use a vac/personal day, then that driver is awarded the day because he has the time and is willing to use it regardless of seniority...if you choose to use your time and you have more seniority, then you will get the day first.
If you filled out single day request forms before the deadline at the first of the year based on time you'll accrue and you're awarded those days based on your seniority, then one of those days come and you've already exhausted all of your vac/personal days and the vac calendar is full, then you CAN be bumped by another driver regardless of seniority and regardless of when they asked for it as long as they have time available to use and they agree to use it...if there are still spots available on the vac calendar, then you can still take the day with no pay. This usually comes into play during the summer/fall months and late in the year during hunting season at my center.
Me personally, I'll fill out the forms before the deadline (Dec/Jan) then make sure I have the time available when those days come by taking my days off with no pay during Jan-April when it's slow and the calendar is usually empty...by doing this, I always have time for days that are scheduled and I usually carry time over for next year.
