Good luck Stoney. I honestly do hope that you make out well.
Thanks ABFer, no hard feelings?
Good luck Stoney. I honestly do hope that you make out well.
Stoney put a little back for repairs on your truck from time to time. It's not without a down side. I think the good will outweigh the bad. It really is about finding a balance. GOOD LUCK !!!!
Good Luck Stoney. I was an O/O for about 9 years. It can be done if you run it like a business and not like a trucking company. A Big Step, and all joshing aside, I hope you do well.
With your magnetic personality how could you fail. After all ABF has taught you what not to do. Keep the sunny side up.
Yup, that's what I hear, but I'm ready for them. Thank you...Good luck, you are about to find out how little shippers care about you or your time.
There's no reason why you can't keep posting Stoney, good luck and keep us informed.
And family comes first.
T If your curious, I bought a 2010 Freightliner Cascadia, it's got the Detroit DD15 455HP with an Eaton 10 speed Ultrashift. She ain't fancy, but I feel she's dependable. Good starter truck.
I wish you guys the best with ABF.
Na, you never did anything malicious to me.Thanks ABFer, no hard feelings?
Na, you never did anything malicious to me.
No need for that to be a "starter" truck. Capable and dependable will be huge positives...more than offset the advantages and related costs of other choices.
I see you're a Harvick fan. I used to race with that kid back in the day around some karting tracks in Southern California. That track in Bakersfield off of Alfred Harrell Highway was my favorite.
I have heard over the years, the best money for an O & O is stay within a 250 to 300 mile radius from your base. Rates on short haul are better & in the case of a mechanical issue with the truck, or a medical issue with you the driver, your support team & family members are close. Hard to reach out to help someone 2000 miles away. Does this make financial sense? Good luck to your son & also to Stoney. von. You're about the same age as my son , who's been driving for a Union flatbed company for about 10 years. Him and I have talked seriously about doing the exact same thing you're doing. Frankly, I think it's a good time to be an O/O.,....,the driver shortage is causing an equipment shortage, as companies don't want to buy trucks for non-existant drivers. Now, I've got a vested interest in seeing how well you do. He's got his down payment set aside,.......He also looked at a Cascadia,..,....I had 3 trucks ovr a nine year period,...but I wanted to pick up where I left off with my Teamster pension,.,so I sold my last truck and started back with ABF 22 years ago. Now, I'm just hoping I made the right choice. Seriously, please keep us informed how you're doing,......as fast as things are changing I'm the trucking industry, my crystal ball no longer works,.,......but we MAY be entering into another Golden Age for O/O's........Any day now, my son might be buying his own,.......he's sick of the corporate stupidity,..... And if I was younger.,.......Good Luck! People always asked me what it was like owning your own truck, and I used to tell them it's cheaper and less painful to buy a ball- pein hammer and smack yourself in the forehead every time you think about buying a truck.........but that may no longer be true.......Persevere Stoney! Some tough days ahead,.......and some real good ones, too.
