ABF | Is the flag backwards on our uniforms?

That's funny !! i ran ue from 184 to 408 .I would have loved to see a customer on the dock at 2am in 5 degree weather with the snow blowing around the dock ! Those people have a real work schedule and are sound asleep in the middle of the night ! No uniforms needed on the ue for sure !!
What do you guys no about cold running 408 you spend most of the time around the coffee pot in n the break room! Frannys a peach ain't he?

What is the proper way to wear a flag patch on one's shoulder sleeve?

Right or "reversed field" flag

General David Petraeus
To wear our country's flag properly, the field of stars is worn closest to your heart. Further, when worn on the sleeve of a military uniform, the flag should appear to be advancing and not retreating. Thus, if your patch is to be worn on your LEFT sleeve, use a left flag (normal). For patches worn on your RIGHT sleeve, use a "right" or "reversed field" flag.
Since the Flag Rules do not specifically address the positioning of the patch, a decision is left to the discretion of the organization prescribing the wear. Some elect to use the "left" flag on both sleeves. [Note: many states and cities have ordinances pertaining to the use of the flag; you may wish to contact the Attorney General of your state or the City Attorney's office regarding this matter.] If you are planning to wear only one patch, it is recommended that you wear a "left" flag on your left sleeve.
Military guidelines specify that in support of joint or multi-national operations (as in Afghanistan), the "right" flag is worn on the right sleeve (see picture), 1/4" below the shoulder seam or 1/8" below any required unit patches. (Class A uniform excepted.)
Some people find the "right flag" disrespectful of the flag and some are calling it the "wrong flag." They seek to gain support to encourage a change in the regulations to always use a "left flag" even on a right sleeve.

Does this help ?

We have not got our new uniforms yet. I guess that i will muster up the "skill and the will' to itch and scratch and feel uncomfortable thru out the day (yeah , i know, iam out there representing the company). Low morale, no new accounts, constant equipment breakdowns, pda's that do not work....guess i'll put on my "the skill and the will" hat and go out and smile !
Slavin if that is how your terminal is ran then somebody needs to inform your vp. Our trucks are serviced and maintained at 065. If they don't fix them why do people drive them ? Our PDA's work fine and the drivers have charges in their trucks. Now the low moral is apparent at 065 also. If it is broke make them fix it.

We have similar situation at my shop. Go out with a PDA that looses cell connection right away and won't keep it. It keeps the company in the blind on how I am progressing so I actually like it. Not that I'm doing anything wrong but it drives them bonkers. And I like to leave my truck maintenance go for a 'special' moment. Then I can tell them how it's been written up for weeks and enough is enough and it drives them bonkers. Many of the maintenance things are not serious but are annoying and they either can't or won't fix them either. Both doors on my tractor don't open right and every time I get back into my truck it takes a little extra time to get the damn thing open and one day it will just quit and that will drive them bonkers. It's annoying but it cuts into my productivity due to their behavior so I'm good with that too. However, overall it does make for a more aggravating day and since this broke and penniless company has money to make us wear uncomfortable clothing instead of working on things that really matter it dampens my otherwise joyous attitude a little.

Our PDAs almost all have intermittent problems. They send them off for repair and when they come back it is often a different PDA with different hidden problems that only become apparent after you are in the middle of deliveries or halfway through breaking a trailer at 6 in the morning. When I get in a strange tractor it is very unusual to not find at least one thing wrong. We tend to get used to what we are exposed to every day. Kinda like the frog in the pot of water that gets hotter by small increments. Some guys won't write up anything because they don't want to be seen as a "troublemaker". Or like ABFer they are waiting for a special occasion to bring it up.

Sure wish Go40 could post again. He would fill up a few posts about the equip. Had a driver take out a d/l tractor on fri. The steward is working on that one.

They couldve avoided the 'confusion' by simply putting the American flag on the left shoulder and the Teamsters patch on the right. Bada-bing!!

What I heard is that the Teamsters were insistent that their logo be placed on the left sleeve. I'm thrilled that they are/were more worried about that than they are/were concerned about the stuff being comfortable for us.

We had our first step grievance hearing on use of a non-Union vendor,....mere formality, It will be pushed on to the Eastern Region and piloted by the four other grievances filed in the JC#40 area. To be heard in August,...that is, if the company doesn't cancel till the next scheduled hearing. At some point, a high-ranking Teamster official is going to have to sign off on ABF's use of the worst non-Union vendor on the AFL-CIO's black list for basic rights abuse. Pretty embarrassing, especially in an election year. ABF has invested too much money to listen to any Teamster official pleading for them to back off, and go with another vendor,....preferably a Union one,....as per the contract. So........this should go right down to the wire,....with our high-ranking officials drawing straws, to see who gets to put his name on this decision, and get thrown to the wolves. Another lackadaisical, casual blunder by our lackadaisical, casual ......."leadership".....who have walked away from the core industries in the Teamsters....
......and another casual, offhand insult from ABF upper management, who are real good at "lip service" as to how their employees are their greatest asset,.......but when it comes to actually respecting their employees, they use that casual, lackadaisical approach,......apparently learned from our IBT ......"leadership ". We are now the second-lowest paid carrier in LTL freight, with all the non-Union carriers making more than $25.00 an hour,.........and management is caught flat-footed with hiring problems they've NEVER encountered in the history of the company. Me thinks they may have out-witted themselves.........
