Hi guys,

Here is a question, the time is coming sooner rather then later I suppose for me to think about purchasing a new automobile.

Currently I have a 2000 Ford F-150 Lariet with 206,000+ miles on the odometer. It's been a fine truck, only major things I have had done to it are a new break line this past winter and a coil pack 13-14+ months ago. Then just regular maintenance stuff no real big deal. I bought the truck used 3-4 years ago from an electrical contractor in Kentucky. I always wanted a maroon 10th generation F-150 Lariet and he had one. Unfortunately the leather seats were aged and all tore up and I had to put seat covers on them so that kind of defeated some of the purpose ha-ha! Any how I had, had other 10th generation F-150s and they were all fine, been driving them for the past half decade now. However, time marches on and while I would like to find a 10th generation King Ranch F-150 supercab not crew cab, I have no use for a crew cab, but a F-150 King Ranch Supercab would, be cool however I fear that, that may be hard to find and not worth the effort. The selection of used 10th generation F-150s gets worse and worse everyday and rightfully so the trucks are older now a lot are worn out and worn down the stuff for sale most of it is left over junk and time marches on, eventually I knew it would be time to say good by.

So as I look towards the future, I was having a hard time figuring what to buy next. For one the price of a used pick up truck is outrageous compared to what it was even 5 years ago. Actually the price of cars new and used is outrageous, but that's not the point. The 11th generation F-150 really doesn't do it for me it's way to boxy and I just don't like it.

So where does that leave me? Well, I'm not a huge GM fan, but GM did have some nice products like the Cadillac Eldorado, Seville, DeVille and the Chevy Caprice 1991-1996 B Body and Impala SS 1994-1996 B Body as well as the Astro/GMC Safari which have achieved cult following in certain automotive enthusiast groups. As well as the Buick Park Avenue which is the car my Grandma has.

Anyhow, I saw a GMC Sierra 1500 for sale in Kentucky they want $10,000 for it 2002 model year 140,000 miles and well I'm thinking about a switching over to the GMC line the interior looks nice and is set up ergonomically different then the F-150, but that's alright. Anyone have any experience with GMC/Chevy trucks?

The only GM experience I have is with Cadillac and with a B-Body Impala SS I owned for a short time in 2011.

I had 2 Chevy pick'em ups.

First one was just the basic 1980 , new C-10 3 on the column, and an inline 6, no power nutting, step side. (victory red, bright red)

Second was new also 1986, power steering, 305 V-8, 700R4 automatic, no ac, fleetside. had some gauges, bench seat that folded down for "some storage". (dark blue)

Loved the 1986, only liked the 1980..

I too would like to have another truck, but this time, for "some luxury" I may go GMC, and I like the front grille on the GMC over the chevy....BUT...a chevy can be as Luxurious as a GMC for lesser price. And I may go 4x4 as well.

I had one Ford, a V=6 Ranger, 2x4. I liked my Ranger, gas mileage sucked however.

As for the F-150, i'd rather go F-250, diesel engine, 4x4

Given that what I would like, V-8 (MUST HAVE) and fully equipped, I cannot see the need for a near $50,000-$60,000 truck, unless tonights power ball ticket is a winner, then ALL bets are off......!!!!!!!! SO my first preference is General Motors trucks.

I have a 2003 GMC 2500 4x4. It only has 68k miles on it because the last 7 years I've only put 3k miles a year on it.
It has had two recalls. One for the steering column that would vibrate so they put a sleeve on it and it has worked so far. The other was for the instrument panel because the gauges would go out prematurely. I noticed my gas gauge needle would make erratic movement so I took it in for replacement. The recalls were done 10 years ago and everything is fine.
The alternator wasn't charging the battery, so it was replaced under warranty.
At 62k miles I would get a check engine light under hard acceleration. It would flash but go away after a while. It would come on again, so I got an inexpensive scan tool and found out it was throwing a Mass Airflow Sensor code. I cleaned it, but the engine light came on again under hard acceleration so I replaced the MAF. Ordered it online cuz dealers wanted over 100 bucks. Got it for 80.
It's been running great since.
That 2002 for 10 grand better be a loaded SLT and all the options still working.
Good luck, Mike!

I would shy away from the quad steer, AWD. Too many extra parts to fix. Find a regular 4X4. They are much easier to work on and cheaper to fix.
