ODFL | long trailers 33' friend or foe ?

My guess would be OD'd would replace those trailers just as quick as Wabash could make 'em! Most of the pups would be just a memory in rapid order starting with the 589 series(that didn't get side skirts) and 780's would disappear almost overnight.Of the many things that could be said about our company"Being slow to react to changes in the industry"isn't one of them..

And IND would be the distributor to the system as fast as they could get them from the Wabash factory in Lafayette.

time will tell how much money companies will dump into new equipment and how fast. they will have to weight the higher cost of new equipment vs letting go of still usable equipment that is paid for.

Reading in "Trucker News" that they will be able to mix 28' and 33' to run. Also read that Obama will reject the paper when it comes to be signed.

It's sad that they are getting more money to scrap the old one's instead of selling.Year's from now you will never find a old OD trailer sitting somewhere.

Except the one in your front yard with flowers planted around it.

I bought a swinging door trailer from them years ago with a bad roof.Fixed it over time and it made an excellent work shop.Got it cheap.Would have liked to got one of those oak floor containers but the roof is a little low if you're taller than 6 ft.

me too have a 784 pup that is my pinball shop, unfortunately it has more than just that now stored in it. had to replace the door on it this year with one our shop was putting in the dumpster.should last another 10 years now

Mine was 48 with the what I called masonite sides, glad I left the wheels on because it's found another home now.

You guys keep talking new. Wouldn't it be cheaper to cut the trailer in the middle and add five feet?
Trailer floor strength for one thing. If you installed a plug in the center you'd have to cut the center rails severely weakening the floor, plus the manufacturers liability and warranty would be voided, leaving OD holding the bag for damages resulting from anything involving the modified trailer.
