hackers are able to control a jeep cherokee 10 miles away

Most of my fleet doesn't have computers & they are paid for. I bought my first new vehicle three years ago & has been in the shop for warranty work for two weeks. It is still in warranty, (35K miles) but my old "farm truck" with 300K keeps going & going & going.

Can you imagine a fleet owner with the driverless trucks of the future paying hackers ransom to not hack his trucks?

ironically Chrysler is involved in the driver less truck program

keep those insurance payments up to date !

I wish DirecTV would hire these guys to build a decent remote that works every time.....:cuss:
Dave, I had originally purchased and set up my DIRECTV unit, complete with a second receiver.

I cannot remember exactly when, but I'll say it was 3 years ago now, I had to accept DIRECTV's offer and take hold of 2 of their new receiver's, with remote controls each, as my store bought receiver's would no longer accept the signals.

They are free and if I leave DIRECTV, I must send them back.

ok that is the set up to this:

About a month ago, one of the remotes was going bad. it was the number 0 and 5, and 1...the HBO channel of 501....

I did an online chat with a rep. I told him I needed a new remote.

he tells me it's $5.00

I tell him, Verizon is pestering me for the FIOS service, I told the DIRECTV rep, thank you, you made up my mind for me.

he says, I don't want to lose you as a long time customer (since 1996) for a $5.00 remote, I will send you one free.......

give that a try...........

you got cable and, maybe Verizon FIOS in your area, use that against them..........hell after what, all these years, I gotta pay extra for "insurance"... for free replacements......??

screw'em.............

do you pay x number of dollars for a "free replacement".........???? I know I do not, and will not...........we would end up paying hundreds of dollars, for what a rebuilt unit, over them sending us brand new......??

:2437:...........

Oh just wait, that will be the next excuse for getting a DUI. :couch:

"Sorry officer somebody must have hacked my car and drove it into the ditch!!"

if you get the reckless driving citation ? now you have a video to take to court. your on your own if you get hit with a DUI

If you remember the sticking Toyota accelerator problem a few years ago, there were several speeders that claimed their accelerators were stuck when pulled over. I don't know if that worked in court.

I believe that the story is a bit misleading. It appears that the teams were working together on this project. A hacking would imply that it was done without the other party's knowledge or consent.
