FedEx Freight | Less than $1hr for pay "increase"

Read this, http://www.truckingboards.com/bb/threads/raise-or-rumor.37855/page-2
It was the year I started there, the year before no one got a raise and management took a pay cut, in 2010 top scale got a raise but nobody else did. Then in 2011 they gave raises to everyone and brought the guys not at top scale up. I'm sure there was mor discussion on the subject at the time, I found this real quick by looking back around that time.

Ok you got me on that one but that was when the economy was in the tank whats their excuse now??? I still don't understand the reasoning behind it and probably never will other than to save a couple bucks at their new employees expense. I mean seriously what kind of message does it send to those guys?

I think your making a bigger deal out of this than it really is, are you at top rate? This type of raise really is pretty common across all industries, I really don't think it would have much affect on a new hire. They will still make the same when they hit top rate so I cans see it affecting anything.

Well how come they decided to change this now?? I talked to one of our guys that will top out at the end of this year he has got full raise every year he has been here. Ok be honest for a minute say you were the ceo and you were trying to get back employees trust and keep the U out would you have made this change even though freight side is thriving.

Your simple question is unanswerable due to the fact none of us have ever been the CEO of a large corporation, therefor we lack the knowledge of all of the complexities that go into making such a major decision!! The slightest decision has major ramifications across the board for the entire company and as Swamp found out while attending the latest focus meeting, the last thing this company does is make quick, brash decisions. I'm guessing almost every decision made is given its due process and well thought out ahead of time, thus if you were in the same shoes as the current CEO, I'm quite certain with all of the information at your finger tips even you would've made the same decision.

Just my opinion

This is a good post and I actually agree with alot of it. Yes some can answer the question mainly tractor man and the op they both have owned their own buisness making them CEO's or former. This is all over our heads to begin with and im not sure that the cfo didn't make this decision. For the others this is a friendly conversation, a company this big needs to know the problems that arise from making a poor decision like this. It's constructive criticism not ripping the company. If we want to be the best we have to continue to make things better.

I'll bet the two record sized raises for two years and a big bonus and the regional Stewart's are all just part of the anti "U" project. Not to mention the new sick policy ect. And I'll go as far to say that if people can't see that,, they just like to bicker

Just my 2 Cents
Although I think there are other factors involved, like a rebounding economy which helped lead to bigger raises, I'll not deny anything that you've stated. I will, however, say that all of the things that you mentioned were due to the threat of the "U", which IS more powerful than the "U" itself...but let's save that for another thread!!

I must admit that this appears to be a well thought out response....there may be hope for you yet!!

In all seriousness, I enjoyed reading and agree with most of your response. Not sure as to their insight on such major decisions being former small business owners which is why I stated "large corporation", with most Mom & Pop businesses the decisions are usually quite simple. I'll also agree that the CFO, the BOD, etc... along with the CEO probably all had a hand in the decision making. I also agree with the rest of your post but as I stated before in a former post, the company would probably prefer their employees to use the tools provided for feedback/constructive criticism instead of using social media for the whole world to see if we truely wanted to make things better.

Believe it or not I was the one that submitted the idea for the new vacation policy. I traded emails with some lady several times and the last one I sent got no response so I thought it was a lost cause then 6 months later they changed it. Im sure I wasn't the only one who was complaining but that was the solution I presented to her.

What ever it was we can't forget the ones with the big ball's that got all this started. If it wasn't for them none of this would be happening. So those are the ones we should be thanking.

Your right I think three was a bigger reason it was changed lol

Everyone can only take 2 weeks in prime season may-sept. You still choose all your weeks just can't get them all in the summer.
Our vacation policy has been that way in CLT for a looong time but our "prime" months also include the month of March...not sure why though.
What is the new vacation policy? Just curious.
It also includes more drivers off per week. We used to only allow a maximum of 5-6 drivers off on any given week in CLT (only 1 driver off the week of July 4th and Thanksgiving week) and that resulted in the bottom 9-10 road drivers not even getting to bid a vacation!! They now allow an average of 13 drivers per week off in CLT, or 10%, which allows every driver to bid their vacation.

Been gone a long time and I see this place hasn't changed a bit. I guess it is just the whiners that join these forums. It is really unbelievable to me. Yeah it really sucks for me to drive 276 miles a night, put three hours on a dock and gross over 1600 a week. You complainers have got to be kidding right?

And your point is ?

And your point is ?
It seems fairly elementary to me. That much of this forum consist of a bunch of whiners. A bunch of ungrateful individuals that make damn good money but still want to complain about things. They expect perfection. They say they don't. But they actually do. They are so consumed with what the next guy gets that they have lost site of the things they do have. I learned long ago that you must take the good with the bad. They simply don't get it. They say they do. But their actions speak otherwise .
