A friend of mine, that I have known for many years was recently terminated in Norfolk Va.This is a man of honesty, integrity, and good work history to the best of my knowledge. He was called in regarding damage to a new truck that he was assigned to.It seems a bracket holding the corner of a bumper had came loose and dropped down, with minimal to no damage done to truck.Raise the bumper and tighten the bracket. My friend told the tm and regional safety director,he had no knowledge of what led to the piece coming loose, which I believe to be the truth. With something this minor,im sure my friend would have told someone,if he knew about it,because it certainly would not have warranted a termination. While my friend was in the tm,s office on a call with the safety director, the tm told the safety director,"it looks like he hit something with the truck".When my friend replied to the director,he didn't know how it happened, the director,s reply was,"I dont believe you".Knowing this man the way I do,I certainly think he is telling the truth. He even had other people at the terminal tell him, they cant believe he got terminated for that. Some may wonder, whats the rest of the story?.Well, this is the story to the best of my knowledge...Would calling home office and telling his story do any good??This is not a whiny, pouting, big mouth. This is a good worker and a company man.I cant believe E would treat someone this way.Sounds so fishy.Maybe a man Hunt? Your is the only company i would have even considered to be the same hemisphere as the one I work for, I am so disappointed in them. Is there any thing he or you guys can do?

That's a pretty flimsy reason to terminate someone.. Estes has always seemed like a pretty fair company since I've been here. There was no physical damage to the truck, but then let him go because the TM "thinks" the driver might have hit something seems like a pretty lame reason.
I'm guessing this was just on a local level, can't believe upper mgmt. in Richmond would approve of this. The driver should call the home office and give his side. The whole thing sounds pretty fishy.

I agree.Ive worked for places in the past, where this would not surprise me.Something dont sound right here.I dont think E operates this way.I would get my word out to Richmond,if it was me.If he is as good of a person as the OP says he is,I dont think E would wont to lose him.

.He was called in regarding damage to a new truck that he was assigned to------Failure to report an accident and if they wanted to go buck wild with it, not doing a proper pre trip/post trip. With that being said sounds like the TM had a axe to grind or you don't really know your buddy and what is in his file

Sounds like TM is out for the driver,I used to work out of Norfolk/Cheaspeake ,I liked Estes and Mr Winsted was a Good TM.Left 11 years ago For YRC wich was great 11 years ago but now the bottom of the food chain. Hope the driver gets his job back and back pay, and the TM will get what he deserves.

I know of a guy who got suspended over a speeding ticket. It was his first and they didn't even wait and see what was result on court date. I think he was doing 10mph over
He got it down to improper equipment which is a no point conviction I believe
IMO they jumped the gun a bit quick when they suspended him

I would call Curtis Carr and explain the situation some times Richmond has no idea what goes on at the terminals! They would def hear my side of what happened!

i know some drivers wreck trucks with less time, then they give them brandy new ones as a reward. usually if you tell someone about your screwup, they might slap your pee pee, but i never heard about firing. i think some one is covering up for someone elses favorite butt kisser

Have many of your drivers band together and send a message by calling a union rep and getting the union ball rolling

Which union should one call? Maybe the same union that supports a party that wants to take away religious freedoms and gun freedoms away.
So let's join a union to stick it to Rob and we lose more freedoms paid for by us because someone posted something on truckingboards. No thank you.

Oh boy...... Don't worry the Republicans are known to be labor friendly, they always look out for the middle class. LMFAO

Keep voting on guns, gays, and God. You have been bamboozled into thinking these issues are patriotic. The rightwing could care less, they just use these as hot button issues to get your vote. That's why we have the huge difference in pay at the top vs middle class incomes, which have shrunk or been stagnant for the last 30 years.

It's really simple. You have no protection from upwardly mobile managers without representation. IBT may end up costing you all your jobs, but it will be many years before you get there. Better to keep your job safe for now. I've seen it too many times; managers get a bee in their bonnet about something and they mark a man for termination unjustly. What protection to you have against that? Kiss up? It starts to taste bad after a while

This is something you just don't understand. I would rather be poor and keep our liberty's than rich and worship government. This is why your union is dying.

Hahaha I'm non union.
Why does one equate to the other? What if a new union started up that didn't have IBT corruption and wasn't in bed with the anti American democrats?

ups union is going strong

You mean like a church membership or NRA membership? I like those unions. So yes I am ok with unions. Labor unions are against the union membership I am currently in. Do you understand that? Why is this so hard for you? The unions you like run off people like me and that is why the unions you like are dying.
