XPO | Con-way being sold.

If stotlar and company knew the sale was coming why did they increase driver pay Company wide? You could argue it was to keep IBT out, but IBT was losing votes at terminal after terminal before the raise. I think it's likely that XPO wants to avoid turnover initially. You won't see any cuts in compensation for a period of time. One of the largest concerns during a merger is to maintain cash flow during the transition by not losing customers or manpower. Gives you all time to get your exit strategy lined up because they WILL cut costs. I think IBT may be more attractive in the not too distant future. Just to offer some job security if nothing else. This coming from a non union, never been in a union driver.
Why would that mean cutting pay and or benefits. CDL holders are in high demand and you can't keep them by cutting their pay. Wages are pretty close across the board for all carriers in my part of the world. I am going to hold off on bailing because I am afraid of what could or might or maybe happen.

No layoffs at the palace.......more miles for drivers.............well, there you have it.....

Did you actually think they would come in and start laying off the work force? Disrupting the Conway labor pool? Hasn't Conway taught any of you guys anything? XPO has to create a delusional fantasy, star cards flowing, quarterly leadership awards , get you back in your comfort zone .... Then slowly start chipping away. All I have to say is you better use this idle time to protect what you still have... It's your future, and your choice.

Probably way off on this but is there still money owed by Conway to the pension fund from the exiting of CF? If so will this or should this be paid with the money they are receiving from the sell of ConWay?

Amazes me how some folk seem to think they can predict the future. The older I get the foggier my crystal ball gets. To the point that anymore I just roll with the flow and try not to worry about it. After all I think we're suppose to have gonna under 3 or 4 times since I started here.
I'm guessing that if ya want an idea how he operates you could go check out what he did with the other companies he's formed or bought. He must be pretty good with 'his' money cause he seems to personally be worth more than 1/2 a billion.

No one can predict the future however, one can make an educated guess looking at history. CF/Conway and XPO's history with their employees ain't so good!

Trolls are why I very rarely come on here. Those of us who actually work here cannot discuss serious topics like the one we are facing now with out it getting high jacked.
In time. Let it be for now, I'm locked and loaded. I'll thin the herd soon enough.

Won't you still be the mod for the new XPO thread soon to be started ?
Yep. And going forward, it's going to change. I'm not going to let the 8 or so trolls who disrupt this and other boards even get a foothold. I'm going to be on them like white on rice. I will make their lives very uncomfortable here. The xpo forum will be for employees. If an outsider wishes to ask a question, fine. But the constant low blows and useless posts will end.

Some of this comes from the idea that Con-way drivers/employees took shots at other companies while they were down.
Some of it is just plain stupid.
This proposed deal hasn't been finalized and as of now , there's no real idea what XPO would/will do - except what they have said in the press.
Personally , I've ALWAYS rooted for our competition to do well.
We are in an era where management is terrified to do something original or to listen to experience versus numbers.
Con-way was a leader that now follows our competition. If we kept the same management , we would probably continue on this path.
Hopefully in LTL , pay will continue to rise , tractors will become safer , and healthcare and retirement will improve. For all. Maybe , one day the US government will even classify truck driving as a skilled trade - it is.

I do know one thing I will see what happens in the next few months maybe years ? if I like the Change I will stick around if I don't it will be time to spread my wings and fly again .I hate to see this Company go down like this its like watching an old Friend die sad really we we once a company you could be proud to work for and we have gone down hill and maybe that's why they selling out now they know they have screwed the people whom built it and they running out with their bags of money leaving us here to scratxh what crumps they might have missed !! Good luck everyone lets hope this will be a better place ??
Good luck to you all. I have a huge trust issue with any company branded as a logistics company. Ive been burned too many times in my life. Hopefully it works out for the best for all normal employees involved.
