ABF | Lay off

Laid off Driver's come on over to YRCW or Holland or New Penn or Reddway , we are begging for Driver's !!!
But how does that work with the pension? If you get hired full time, are they still only making a quarter payment into the pension funds,.....until 2019?

No thanks - spent 18 1/2 years at Roadway/YRC. I'll go work fast food if I want to be treated like crap.
I see these YRC drivers around Ocala that have that same PISSED OFF at the world look that I had back in Cincinnati & I'm not going through that again.

We had one guy laid off effective midnight last night.Had come over from YRC 2 months ago, worked only 1 day this week made sure they brought him in Friday to tell him what a company!!!!

I heard 050 put a new man to work on Monday & yesterday on Friday they laid off 3 guys. Now the new hire can't work until the other 3 are called back. Before this new shuffle of workers there were 6 people off work for injury or illness. Now we are coming in to the most profitable quarter for ABF with a huge manpower shortage. And we are still leaving outbound freight sitting in trailers in the yard waiting to to be worked the next day. And 3 people retiring between now & the end of October. I still say their end game is to bankrupt ABF & taking profits out of one company & placing them in to another. When ABF is gone so is the Pension Debit that hung over their heads. Game over.. von
we were told today ther were 109 layed off in the system last week. lost some big accounts... amazon to estes next month. should be able to get that back they cant handle it. hell, they have a hard enough time swapping trailers here in atlanta.

Whoa whoa whoa!!! Are you saying we've lost Amazon nationwide?

Everything but the returns. like i said estes cant handle that volume
Well, I'm probably gonna come under fire for this...but honestly, I won't miss that stuff all too much. Most of those deliveries are set up for 10a-2p....smack dab in the middle of the day! So you're running around our fair cities trying to deliver 'Fat Lady's' treadmill, Grandma's electric doo-dad, Billy-Bob's Weber BBQ, Hippie-Girl's kayak, Farmer John's plastic shed, and Spoiled Kid's Electric Mini-Jeep. Then, the rest of your route, THEN the pickups that seem to all close at 4pm, THEN back to the dock (by 6:30pm if you're damn lucky), THEN work the outbound freight...which has put me home anywhere from 8pm-10pm all frickin' year. No...I won't miss that crap one damn bit!!!

That's a lot of bills in determining the metric. If we were making money on that crap then it will be a loss. I really think we were handling that stuff to fill trailers.
Let's not forget all the Nine-Man Turn-Key deliveries too! What a complete waste of manpower. Ultimately, we're all DELIVERY MEN...not installers! Sorry if I sound bitter, guys..but it's TWO HIPS AND A HOORAH from this old feller!!

Penn...if you would, please let me know if you hear any more details on the Amazon loss. This could be big here out West. Thanks. T206.
