I appreciate your perspective, but find it totally wrong.

YRC should have gone under. Obama spent our money so it wouldn't and that is bull :::shit:::. We at Con-way took cuts in pay and lost benefits. Where was our government money ? And we ain't done spending. The biggest pension of them all is busted. And you all are going to destroy the system and take even more tax payer money to fulfill 37% of YRC's broken promises.

Of course everyone was going to want to talk about the largest LTL in the business falling to pieces under it's own weight. It was effecting us all. The world doesn't revolve around just you. The whole rest of all of us do exist. We are real. Check it out.

And you guys prancing around all snooty and talking down to everyone that wasn't union all those years may have had something to do with folks finding pleasure in seeing you knocked down a peg.

As it applies to a cancer patient, apparently you have no experience. The first thing you ask is how long ? The next is, do you want to go somewhere ? Do something ? Can I bring something to you ? Life is precious. Most of us don't know when we are going to go. Could be any moment. These people have a time table. They know the when. And those last few days of freedom before the sickness squeezes the life out of them are amazing and wonderful. The kind that leave a lifetimes worth of memories.

I don't understand how you can see it fit to compare celebrating a life that is ending with a business or a job that has run it's course. A business exists to make money. When it is no longer profitable, it will stop making money. People don't come to work for free. We say that it died or that it is dead, it's because those are terms that hold a certain terminal quality. But it was never alive or living. And no one ever celebrated the doors closing. It just fades away. In this industry they will recycle those trailers and you will see them for years and years. The sun fading out everything but where those old stickers used to be.

Only person ever to be perfect was a man around 2000 years ago. None of us are him. So I guess we oughta be used to getting bitten by now. It's human nature to be fallible. When did it become rude to be human ? Maybe instead of shutting those guys out you should have talked to them. Most of them had probably already been through the same type of situation a time or two. But that would have required you to see them as a peer or an equal. And that's probably to big of an ask from a guy like you. Not that I know you at all. It's just my impression of you from this post of yours.

Anyway, thank you for sharing.
Obama bailed out Yrc? This is big news, I'll have to relay to all the Obama haters I work with. I'm going to have to pay more attention to what's going on instead of sleepwalking through the day.

Economy freight may eliminate empty trailers on the back haul. Empty miles don't pay. If its economy, not TDC, we can sit on it until we have one premium box with no premium back box to run with it and send it. The reason we have been told for so many years why we run so much purchase is to eliminate empty miles. Reduce empty miles and reduce the use of purchased transport.

This has been an eye opening couple of months for me. I've realized more and more how much I despise having every minute of my work day dictated by some 20 something year old kid that is trying to move up but won't even make eye contact with me anymore. It amazes me that my barn has a freeze on hiring dock help and drivers but is still pumping out supervisors right and left.

I absolutely hate it anymore. I've been doing a lot of research in my area and I'm convinced I could make more taking a different route that I'm in control of. I'm sitting back now letting the acquisition go through but I have an out that I really hope I end up taking.

Don't forget if they are cutting costs deferred freight might make money. FedEx has been doing it for a couple years.
The only Economy freight that really makes money is the stuff that we put on the rail. I would bet you guys would probably have a similar setup as ours if you add a cheaper option.

So, where did you get the info anyone bailed out the union pension. We just had our pensions cut in half to keep it afloat. There was no government bailout. You need to do a little research instead of ranting union hate filled tirades you have no knowledge of. As for being a person who blew his horn for being union, once again your incorrect information runs rampantly wrong. Some have done so in the past, just as many Con-Way drivers turned their heads at union drivers at red lights. Neither would have been the correct way to respond. However the union was in place when I got there and it served me well, but I always knew that I was very blessed to make the wages and benefits I did. Sounds like you have a bit of the little boy , big boy syndrome going on with the YRC vs Con-Way thing. As far as the cancer comparison , you are trying to do the "left wing liberal" thing and make hatred out of a simple comparison. For the record, everyone knows when they are Saying mean spirited things about your company, it was intentional and they had the same heart then as you displayed here tonight. Life is precious, and a gift from God,period.
Now, here is where you can really take things out of context.I am a 100% proud Christian who knows I only have my first breath each day because the Lord saw fit for me to have it. I daily meet and pray with and for people of all color, creeds, and religions. Oh yes, Union or Non-Union also ( I know that seems to be a real separating point for you). Matthew 7:1, JUDGE NOT, Enough said there. As for me responding back, my Saviour Jesus Christ teaches me to be "meek" not "weak". I will respond in a positive way until I see the person I'm dealing with is not goin to show respect. At that point I give a final response, ( out of love) and move on. That strength comes from God and keeps me from saying things I shouldn't. The only time some mention faith is in a negative response, I choose to go with "love one another as I have loved you, also love one another.

He is totally incorrect. He is like the news, talk first and see if any of it will stick. A lie makes a better story sometimes.

THIS IS THE KIND OF LEGAL SIDEWINDING THAT " high speeds" will never mention because it is based on facts and not self induced hatred. This is the kind of legal sidewinding combined with Union corruption that caused Central States to have to cut our Pensions in half last week. No government bailout for us. This is not to beat down Con-Way, but rather to show "high speeds" some of the truths that caused the Union pension problem.

Former CF Employees Should NOT Be Orphans?!

Since Central States (Nyhan and his cronies) let Con-way off the hook for $662 MILLION in withdrawal liability back in 2008, and settled for $8 MILLION, why are they still considering CF employees orphans? Central States settled for the $8 MILLION, not the participants.

"Con-way Inc. and the $26.8 billon Teamsters Central States, Southeast and Southwest Areas Pension Fund settled a dispute over an alleged $662 million in withdrawal liability from Consolidated Freightways Corp., a Con-way subsidiary spun off to stockholders in 1996, according to an SEC filing Dec. 31 by the San Mateo, Calif.-based company.

In the settlement, Con-way agreed to pay $8 million to the pension fund and assign any future proceeds from the Consolidated Freightways bankruptcy. In 2002, Consolidated Freightways filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and Con-way filed claims totaling $35.8 million, said Gary Frantz, Con-way director of communication

Get used to hearing the word SYNERGY..... As a YRC(Roadway) Employee we know what it means, and your new boss is already using it. Also, he has run up his credit card; just like Zollars did. Guess what, you really can't cut your way to a profit, but it's coming.....trust me.... You can say, " So what we are profitable." Guess what, that profit just goes to service XPO's huge debt load now, and trust me; their debt comes before anything else.

Talk about bull ::shit::, YRC did not get a government bailout and I don't know where that thought came from. Many felt that since Uncle Sam was dolling out money to the bankers for the greater good of the people that he should do the same for YRC but it never happened. And sure you took pay cuts as did all the others. Well...some took wage freezes and diminished 401K contributions but it's all a pay cut just the same. Part of Conway's and FedEx's pay cuts were thanks to those big sales on services which were designed to put the final nail in YRC's coffin. No fault of your own but it happened. And you took wage cuts because the company could do it, plain and simple, nothing more, nothing less. See, you had nowhere to go and they knew it so it was as easy as could be. Since the union companies took cuts so did the others. The union sets the bar and others follow. I am disgusted with our sorry excuse for a union and I blame them and their actions for being the reason that we all took pay cuts. :ranting2:

End of rant.

I want both yrc and conway to close shop so i can move up the board. it's called competition. we all should want the company we work for to be the best. let's all pretend we want the best for conway and yrc. too funny! i want estes to lose freight to you guys so i can be a better christian. this is getting ridiculous. forget about drivers being rude at a dock pickup and stop cutting me off when i'm trying to pass! he he he

also i think highspeed is saying that conway wasn't part of the problem when it came to banks needing bailouts. some will say if your not part of the solution you are part of the problem.

xpo buying conway is nothing like yellow buying roadway. roadway was a dump when yellow bought em. have we forgotton the roadway junk going down the road at that time? the city and linehaul equipment was really really bad. the hilo s were junk. yellow bought a company with big time management/ worker hostility.

Life will never be perfect. I see no need for companies to go out of business and good people lose their jobs just to advance the business of another company. Their is plenty of business to support the current companies. It's up to each company to make their business profitable.
I'm not a person who cares what others say to a point, but when what they say is rude and out of malice and to inflict pain or inject argument then it will be coming from both sides (I however will choose my words with great caution).

As far as high speeds he did mean what he said, he just chose to rant rude statements instead of doing a little research and use a descent heart. I can see from your snide remarks about a Christian that you probably aren't a person of faith and that is just fine (if I'm wrong I'm sorry), but I am and I like to think about the well-being of others having a job as well as myself. I have never reveled in seeing others suffer loss due to large companies going out of business (remember, that could be your son or daughters job going out the window.)
As far as what XPO buying Con-Way is like , you or no one else knows. YRC can be spoken of in hindsight and that is always 20/20. XPO is still "YET TO BE DETERMINED", and I pray this movies doesn't end badly.

guess what if conway and Yrc close up their will be others pop up that will undercut Testes.

XPO CEO Bradley Jacob says the company will focus on combining back-office operations from its recent acquisitions, as well as reducing costs and improving profitability, as it integrates Con-Way following its $3B takeover.

Heard the same thing when Yellow bought Roadway... Get ready...... Wait till they start missing earnings projections... It won't be managements fault for borrowing to much money!!!

Oh well. Guess I'll just have too put up with you guys in the way tonight. Maybe you guys will close up next week. Wait a minute, you guys would have to close at the same time so the other one wouldn't be able to survive off the new influx of freight. Oh boy this gonna get tricky. Maybe I'll pray about this on Sunday at church. Lord please keep Yrc out of the hammer lane and slow down conway so it don't take 10 miles to pass em.

Teamsters retiree's pensions are getting cut up to 50% who'd be dumb believe they recieved a bailout? They should be bailed out if that what it takes. A guy works 30-40 years earns a pension and it gets cut in half after he retires when he's 70. WTF. What's one supposed to do then, go drive casual somewhere? This government has money to bailout GM, for Obama phones, welfare for immigrants but can't back up these retiree's pensions? Union, non-Union, Yrc, Conway XPO who cares anymore we all seem to be getting screwed by these companies and this govt doesn't seem to be much help either. By the way anyone gets some kind of pleasure out of this, at best is bad karma (wait till you retire).

Finally a breath of fresh air and common sense mixed in with good ole humor and the truth to top it off. I think that will be my final read of the day , so I can end on a good note. Lolololol
THANKS BROTHER. (Union or non- union, it's all good)

Nothing I'd post on here. That's surely understandable.
I wouldn't announce it either since it might create competition for yourself. But I would caution you......the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence. Do your homework before you jump so that you know for sure where you're going to land.
