Organized farm workers in Florida have been asking for 5 cents more a box for years. They target Publix grocery because Publix has the ability to say yes we will pay the additional 5 cents. So far as I know they have refused to do so.

Every time we have had the minimum wage argument in America we always hear it will destroy jobs, destroy the economy.
But we can remember that those predictions never came to pass.
I realize that if what you see as unskilled workers suddenly are paid $15 an hour that they close the gap on your pay rate.
But that ought to show you how far behind your pay rate really is.
So don't blame the struggling minimum wage workers for that, blame yourselves.

They don't seem to realize that the less ya make the less ya buy . They also don't seem to realize that this raise won't be finalized for an other 5 years . Funny how the naysayers never complain when they get a raise . Your correct raising the minimum , those predictions have never came to pass . I agree and think there is an awful lot of false pride in us. Lets say a driver earns $20 an hour thats about $13 a hour over minimum wage.
This confirms to driver that he is a skilled worker who deserves better wages than the worthless know nothings that work at the burger counters.
So when the "worthless" Burger workers gets raised to $15 an hour, now driver has his sense of worth devastated, now he is only $5 an hour better than the minimum wage worker. He now would need to make $33 a hour to feel the same sense of accomplishment.
I think this is the main reason why someone in labor objects to a raise for others in labor.
Maybe we need to like ourselves more for what we are than what our hourly wage is?
