Hi everyone, I live in Cleveland 185 city blocks from down town to be exact. We already had a border line riot today. "Black Lives Matter" blocked the Detroit-Superior Bridge and the police kind of just let it happen. It's a full week before the convention and already protests.
The protesting groups and city hall have all been going round and round about protesting permits and routes. Already the city of Cleveland paid 4million for an extra insurance policy worth 50 million or something for property damage down town that they suspect will happen. Bottom line is this I think they might want to try and burn the place down, most people will be at home watching this on TV.
Driving trucks down town during the convention will be virtually impossible, we already have customers ordering extra heavy this week, because they are not even going to at all attempt to get an order next week. Our trucks have to go to a security check point to get checked in. I mean yeah there will be areas where the protestors will be able to destroy things, and then I'm sure there will be other areas off camera that the protestors won't even be allowed with in 200 yards off it's going to be ugly. I've already made up my mind I'm going to try and "live it a little" drive down around close to down town just to see how close I can get, I don't want to get my car flipped over and burned, but I want to see how close I can get to down town before either the rioters/protestors or police/security make me turn around. I don't feel like going through police check points for no reason or dealing with rioters/protestors, but I can see how close I can get.
It's going to be ugly in certain parts that's for sure.
