Whay is happening here is,the companies and the IBT are trying to standardize the teamster wages and eventually, the teamster benefits. The problem is,instead of bringing the wages back up at YRC,they believe it`s easier to bring the wages down at ABF. The reason people join unions and pay union dues is to better their jobs not fall further behind. All these years the teamsters should have been trying to unionize other freight companies and put them under the NMFA. Instead of doing that, now they are tearing down the NMFA and slowly bringing down the wages and benefits that were part of the contract. These freight companies can and do manipulate their numbers and show losses or less profit when it serves their purpose.

You are exactly right. The UPS contract should have been NMFA too and we should all be working for the same pay rate if we are under a "national" contract. I wonder when UPS will cry poor? They are next.

UPS Freight is paid above the NMFA at the end of 2013....KK

If this is some big socialistic system everyone should be paid the same and receive the same pension otherwise what is the point of the NMFA and the pension that goes along with it?

When I look at my pay stub nowadays, it looks like every Tom, Dick, and Harry is taking their cut out of it. About one more hand on my paycheck, and I might as well go pick up cigarette butts in the McDonald's parking lot for a living. At least they might let me do it on my own schedule. (after the Jerry Springer show is over)
Quit looking at your paycheck Flash, (Thats what I did, makes it a lot easier.) that way you won't see that every Tom, Dick, Harry, George etc is taking some part of your check.
Good idea. I think that I'll try to only look at the take home pay. That way I will know if I have enough beer money left over. When I look at the gross compared to the take home, I start wondering who's next to take their share from me.
There you go. Got to have that beer money. Nothing like a man with priorities.

Sometimes it is hard to look at though, isn't it.

With just 7000 employees I dont see how a paycut is going to help pull out this fabricated financial crisis.as my investment advisor told me.when it comes financial numbers a company can move those things to get a desired affect.manipulation.after abf announced this concessionary move.its like a poisoned pill.customers and investors react.if they really believe the rehtoric

And you know that big old YRC train
just keeps on keeping on!

two guesses on that

  • [li]ABF will manage to stop losing money even though they have the highest cost structure in ltl[/li]

[li]but that will cost jobs because of the high cost structure[/li]

At this point, maybe it's about staying competitive.
This is the biggest con-job that the pos union and pos companies like to lay on you. How did that philosophy work out for pos yrc? All the non unions did was immediately adjust their wages and benefits to stay even. Only thing is, most if not all has been returned to them. Like someone said, its a race to the bottom and the pos union and pos yrc are trying to out do each other to see who can get the working man there first.

ya, go ahead..fire away. The YRC forum is a lot more thick skinned then where you're from..we don't run crying to the mods every time some one from a foreign company posts some thing we don't want to hear. I've been called worse. How do you like my dog?

ABF Teamsters will remain under the NMFA contract wage, as we await the next move by the company and the International Union.

Thanks to the rank and file observers for assuring a democratic and fair vote.

i think abf men should make it clear to the intenational that we do not want any other giveback schemes. period end-of discussion we said no! abf has said there is no "plan b". lets make sure there is no plan c or d or e either. we have a contract, abf signed it thinking that they won the lottery and should not be allowed to open it PERIOD!! we have made enough concessions. like assembling treadmills and doing rigging work with upack cubes etc. we get measly raises and the int'l lets the company attempt to take back 10 years worth in one fell swoop. no deal! lets stand together for a change

This is great News !!
