ABF | Attention Fed Ex and Conway

My recollection is that in PA a driver's license permitted us to drive anything up into the 1970's. I am not sure about the motorcycle (M) endorsement but the Class 3 for tractor trailer came into play right about 1976. And Class 3 is what it was until it got switched to the alpha system and I believe that was in 1990 when the CDL was born but I am not 100% on that part. In 1976 one was able to self certify their qualifications with a signature.

In Indiana it was a simple chauffer license. For public passenger, bus, limo, etc it was a Public Passenger Chauffer License. Indiana kept it simple. I don’t remember any type of class in the chauffer license for any type of truck. Just the PPC for passenger carrying.

I absolutely debase myself, and lie prostrate on the floor groveling for your forgiveness............I was reading my yearly Teamsters Pension statement, and got so excited calculating just how many more days I have left,.....that my finger stuttered over my reply to you,.....My hands were shaking as I realized I'm under 600 days, now, for both the Social Security and Pension to kick in,.....Couple those with the $400.00 healthcare subsidy that our Health and Welfare Fund has until Medicare,.....and maybe a good, inexpensive pick from Healthcare.gov...a.k.a. Obamacare,...........and I can spend my waning days in relative comfort, infesting the local McDonald's every morning with the resident group of retired truck drivers, to lie, tell stories, and solve the world's problems,...for hours on end, for the price of a (senior) coffee.........Let us know if your route will bring you past that McDonald's,.......We'll all gather out on the sidewalk , and salute you as you go past...........
 
And,.......Of course,....now you're going to tell me that the Government is going to rip most of my pension off of me,.....cut 90% of my Social Security benefit,.....tax my healthcare subsidy at an exorbitant rate,.......and,....absolutely defund and trash that Socialist healthcare scheme....a.k.a. Obamacare,........Oh,....and McDonald's will impose a 10 minute time limit for those over 55,...........Because, as we all know,.....the only ...."pension"....worth having is a 401(k),......everything else is trash,.....or soon will be, once the Republicans are completely in charge....................Worker's Paradise, then, eh?
 
Hammer, I was not meaning the 130K but the 12.83% (ROR) Rate of Return. I was wondering how your 401k did? My 401k is a rollover from Wilson over the past 14yrs. I don't contribute to my 401k, I prefer IRA's because ABF does not match. They pay into my pension. My two IRA's give me more control and my ROR between my Roth and Traditional IRA's was 24.90% in 2014. Giving my total ROR for all retirement accounts an 18.42% return.
 
I would ABFer but the penalty for taking money out of an IRA is way to high. I try not to pay interest (other than tax deductible) or penalties. Ask me again in 9 years. :438:
 
Prior to CDL's (1990) in Massachusetts, it was class 1, 2, or 3. Class 1 being tractor-trailer; class 2 being straight truck and class 3 being passenger cars. I remember getting my class 1 (1970, I think) only on the signature of my boss saying I had over 5000 miles of experience. No written or road test required.
 
ABFer, here I am stuck in the motel again. I think I am going to get a non-union job so I will not feel so guilty about taking the companies money for spending time on the internet. I wounder if ConWay would give me job so I could sit in their motel for free?
 
What did you find attacking about that post. I only pointed out that I was a Teamster by choice. I suggested that he ask a union driver to take him to a union meeting or to show him around the union hall and how things are done there. I said nothing to even suggest any hostilities. Only pointed out that one should get all the facts before making a major decision on the union non union matter. If you think I was being hostile then you spook easily. Again get your facts before making a decision. YOUR FRIENDLY BROTHER ALWAYS!

Seems to be obsessed by baked goods and obesity,......Must be on his mind constantly.........And,....What's the crack about "longevity"?.......Really? Are you in this industry? Truckload carriers,...100% non-Union,...have an industry-wide 90-95% turnover rate,....Non-Union LTL are running about 30%,....Union LTL is running about 11%,....up about 8% from 5 years ago. Do a little research on the DOL web site.....Union jobs expect you to be there 30 years. Union drivers expect to have a career. While you're on your break on the midnight shift at the bakery, waddle over to a chair, wipe the cream filling off your smartphone, and Google something other than fattening confections.........

Of course he did, Brother,....It was quite asinine,.......And,...you don't expect him to actually find out the causes, do you?,....when it's SO much fun just blurting out anything that you've picked up off of talk radio or the fluffy media.......he tried to throw a textual "hand grenade" in amongst our posts, ....Fun to do, just throw and run away......unfortunately, he chose our board,.....where we hold ourselves to just a tiny bit higher of a standard than that. I am an extra board driver out of ATL. I can average around 2000 a week, and ABF contributes 700 a week for my benefits and pension. When I come in I am on the clock even if my load is not ready. If I am in the hotel and my load is not ready within 12 hours I am on the clock. Guaranteed 2 hours and on the 17th hour our meal is paid for. I get paid for every minute it takes to break and make sets. The best thing is the seniority rights, work rules and job protection. If a jr. man gets a better run you get paid the difference. There is no stroking the boss for better work. I have seen drivers get their jobs back after an accident. What are you going to do if you are at a non union company and a manager has it out for you...human resources will not help you, who's side do you think they are on? I don't want to work for a company where coworkers rat on you and kiss ass to move up. I don't want to be treated like a boy by management. What are you going to do when your insurance gets dropped for Obamacare? What are you going to do if you get fired unjustified and you have a family depending on you? Now is the time to organize, you have the upper hand because of driver shortages. Lets stick together for our future and the future of our families. Charlotte Fed Ex...VOTE YES.
