Bobby Lee Smith, 54, died Saturday afternoon, January 23, 2021 at Forsyth Medical Center.
Bobby was born on January 7, 1967 in Rockingham County to Daniel Gary and Lorene Mabe Smith. He was employed by FedEx for 16 years and was a member of Baux Mountain Baptist Church. Bobby was known as “Big Bob” and his CB handle was “plowboy”. Bobby was very active in his church, having served on the bus ministry, tract ministry, as well as an usher. He also worked for Golden State Food and Pine Hall Brick for many years. Bobby loved riding four wheelers, collecting guns, pawn shopping, and was known as the “family used car salesman”. He loved his family more than anything and was a loving husband, father, son, and brother who never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife; Frankie Watts Smith; mother, Lorene Mabe Smith; 2 children, Caitlyn and Caleb Smith; 2 step sons, Jesse and John White; 5 sisters, Linda Smith (Mike), Peggy Adams, Patricia Jamie (KJ), twin sister, Donna Lawrence (Roy), and Laura Hopper; 2 brothers, Gary Smith (Susie) and Mark Smith (Stephanie); and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a 2:00 pm funeral service held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Baux Mountain Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Rosebud Christian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 from 6-8 pm at Baux Mountain Baptist Church: 4334 Lake Woussicket Rd. Germanton, NC 27019 and other times at the home of his brother, Mark Smith.
Social distancing will be observed, and facial coverings are required.
