XPO | Bonehead FOS, DSR, and DW

I had these two skids come in from XPH on a trailer three weeks ago. Not manifested, not placarded, One skid leaking. Going to XWO. Don’t usually do this but got the FOS involved sent emails to XPH.LMAO

Going to xwo? Not to worry…the crew there has had plenty of practice recouping and patching up damaged freight to make it look ‘show room’ ready. I know cause I worked out of that barn for 25 years. They’ll just have to be careful not to breathe any of this class 6 powder.

That might be a good thing to put on your résumé If you applied at any of these companies for the maintenance position.I worked at XPO as a recoup specialist
 
That's 1564 is a Barium Compound , n.o.s. TOXIC any fire would be needed to be fought from the max distance possible . Can turn ugly fast , definitely don't get it on your nose . That's the thing ,you bring something like this to the table only to get punished by some urine ant supervisor or TM for bringing a dangerous situation to light . Maybe it should of been ran down the wall so the whole side is tore open and you have numerous feet of it being tracked in and out all day , then a person that cares , make that cared sweeps out his trailer unknowing the danger .

Except for flammable corrosive and poison, most of us don't know the risk of any chemical on board a trailer. And in 17 years @ ABF I never saw a Safety Data book or info on your PDA telling you the risk. Leaking chemicals? Notify dispatch THEN CALL safety in Ft. Smith. DO NOT wait for the office to call them. Get it from the source. I witnessed several times when management changed direction after someone had called safety. von.

Very easy to look up the UN number with an IPhone app. or the H/M guidebook every office should have in dispatch. Or look up the Emergency Response handling in the guidebook we ALL should have in our door pocket of the tractors. That’s the first thing I do when some uneducated FOS says “Just clean it up”
Then I personally call safety and tell them the H/M guidebook requires self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) for clean up. Ah Houston, we have a problem! News flash! We are not qualified or trained in such clean up. It’s a professional clean up job and walk away. I once saw an FOS use his bare hands to tape up a torn poison Haz/Mat bag after A DSR refused. Saw one supervisor touch poison liquid with bare fingers and sniff it because he thought it was water. Told him to look it up in the guidebook before he did that and he refused to. Needless to say his finger tips were burned the next day and his uniform had holes burned in them. Who knows what it did to his health, never sought medical attention.

I ran into a guy named Pablo many years ago. Don't know whatever happened to him?

Sent an E-mail... now that's funny. XPH is so azz deep in freight they problem just put it on the trailer to get it out of there way. You could have put flashing light on it and a sign that read HEY DUMB AZZ THIS IS HAZMAT and they still wouldn't have seen it. I see alot of XPH freight and this is not the first nor will it be the last

What does that have to do with the terminal being a union shop . We see the same almost every week coming into us . It happens at both organized terminals and those that are not .Also are dock workers are not organized and are probably most likely who loaded the trailer. Our drivers don’t work the dock much on outbound unless we’re short dock workers . The exception being the last 2 weeks our linehaul drivers worked our outbound dock cleaning up. We had made no picks all of last week because we were so buried . It took the whole week to get us current . We’re short 20 drivers.
