When a transport truck driver stopped on Rideau St. Thursday night to check on a noise, he expected to find a deflated tire. Instead, he found a man's body under the rig.
Police said the truck was heading east on Rideau., between Cumberland St. and King Edward Ave., just after 8:30 p.m. when it struck a 43-year-old Ottawa man, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police aren't releasing his name.
The man was on the south side of Rideau when he was struck. Police aren't sure if he was on the sidewalk, but they have determined the truck didn't leave the road.
Police said the man was dragged a few metres.
Charges aren't pending against the truck driver.
