ABF | Central States Extends YRC’s $100M Debt till 2019

Im shocked....not, the way its going central states should be bankrupt by then....nice job Jim

Don't forget to thank YRC Teamsters!...Without them accepting every MOU that is offered this could not have been made possible!!! I can see in the near future YRC teamsters possible losing their Pension due to their lack of full contributions..

It will catch up to them....

It will catch up with everyone in that fund.....
And most of that is because yrc is only paying 25%, lets be honest they will never go back to 100%..... My question is where is the equipment & the technology Welch promised yrc as soon as the last mou was signed that was 7 months ago & nothing. Looks like you guys were extorted for the 5th time....

We have a lot of weak knee spineless members that wouldnt stand up for anything. They are "just happy to have a job". Pathetic.

please correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't your local (200) endorse this current last round of concessions? and also I know of stewards telling drivers (members) to YES vote on this latest rounds of concessions! FACT!

Just about every local supported the mou. As far as stewards telling drivers how to vote, I didnt see that at my barn but I wont deny it happening.

Well maybe we the abf Teamsters can have a say in them making good on the money they owe OUR PENSION FUND! YOUR TIRED OF THE BS BROTHER ALWAYS!

I don't recall seeing in our contract that we would allow a 100 million dollar payment to be extended. If someone saw that in OUR contract please forward that link. YOUR BROTHER ALWAYS!

The only difference between Welch and Zollars is the spelling!!!

We just had a pension seminar , sponsored by our Local , in response to the top-heavy seniority lists at UPS and ABF. Pension Fund manager there to answer any questions. Official word in the W.Pa. Pension fund is that the YRC Teamsters were placed out of the Fund in 2009 because of 5 months of non-payment. Essentially,....all YRC employees' pensions are frozen at the 2009 level. The 25% monthly payment is for past money owed the Fund, and is not considered as a contribution toward the Fund. I don't know how the rest of the Funds,.....and I believe there are 26 other Funds,.....handled YRC's non-payments 5 MONTHS prior to the first MOU being voted on,....but I do know that in our Joint Council, there are about 5 YRC, Holland, and New Penn facilities,...and that I questioned why no steward, committeeman, B.A. Principal Officer,...or,...for that matter ,.....anyone,......bothered to find out why YRC quit making payments to our Pension Fund 5 MONTHS before the first MOU vote. It only takes 3 months of non-payment ,....in either the Pension , or the H & W Fund,...and you have a 72 hour notice of strike on your hands. Very, very fishy, eh? No answers to my question then,....all I got was a "We'll look into it.",.........and now I get: "That's Old History,....Already happened, and nothing we can do about it." Was EVERYONE asleep at YRC? ...For 5 MONTHS?

Brother canaryinthemine,...the Central PA., 8 cities fund in Reading, PA. held a similar meeting last fall just for us YRCW members. We were informed that YRCW, had in fact, paid those 5 months back in full. We questioned the rep. several times about this, because, as you can imagine, it shocked us (pleasantly) as well. I thought they had met their obligation to all funds. I will dig into this further, and get back to you.

I can't recall the 5 months before the first MOU vote. I do believe in September of 2009 YRCW stopped making any payments into the Central States Pension Fund till 2011, then only started contributing payments of 25% of the negotiated pension rate till present. YRCW HAS MADE NO PENSION PAYMENTS FOR 2 YEARS, AND ONLY 25% FROM 2011 TILL 2O19.

I don't believe the IBT, or the Central States Pension Fund Trustee's had any right to postpone YRCW deferred pension obligations from 2015 to 2019. The fund is suppose to be in Red zone/ critical status, and they are now counting on the government to change Pension laws. If this happens, they will have the ability to cut all Retiree's, and future Retiree's pensions. This just adds to the list of mismanagement decisions and no accountability from the Pension Fund's Trustee's.

I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR WHAT OTHERS THINK SHOULD HAPPEN TO YRCW TEAMSTER PENSION'S? REMEMBER YRCW TEAMSTERS HAVE VOTED ON... NO PENSION CONTRIBUTIONS FOR 2 YEARS, and HAVE VOTED ON MULTIPLY MOU'S ALLOWING YRCW TO PAY ONLY 25% OF THE OF THE CONTRACTUAL RATE.

Thank you, Brother Sugarfoot. My fervent wish is that ALL teamster Brothers and Sisters get exactly what's owed them ,....without all the devious corporate machinations and Teamster ..."leadership"...perfidy. One of my sons is in that Fund for AWI.

I am really confused on the YRC contributions being made to the western Pa pension fund. Are the YRC Teamsters getting a 1/4 credit or are the payments only going towards past due interest? What the hell is going on?

I agree about what is being said about YRC, THE CONTRACT VOTES, AND THE NON- PAYMENTS. However, there are just as many unanswered questions about "WHAT HAPPENED TO THE 6.1 MILLION DOLLARS UPS PAID TO GET OUT OF CENTRAL STATES". If central made enough bad investments to loose all of that, that in itself is gross mismanagement. If not, where did all of that money and the interest that it would draw go. Surely not embezzlement, that has never happened at Central States before? OH YES, I FORGOT ABOUT "DADDY HOFFA "IN THE 60's. Central states has many questions to be answered including the YRC ISSUES.
