I'm starting to see more and more CNG trucks on the road; We have two of them? Is anybody else running them? How bout other LTL..

UPS did a test run of them. Don't know anything else about it.

Supposedly there were some up north somewhere. Michigan or Montana. I don't know. With us.

Remember hearing about them. But that they were inefficient and used roughly twice as much fuel as diesel. And were a royal pain to maintain. And expensive parts.

I've seen several CW CNG trucks in Texas along 10 between San Antone and Houston. Can't say I would want to be on top of one if she blew, but I see CNG as a future alternative for the industry, especially once the bugs get worked out.

Can't remember where I read it but there is supposedly a lot of natural gas available. We run our fork trucks on the stuff. Haven't seen one explode yet. And I have seen some people that might have trying.

I think it's a great idea too. I believe T Boone Pickens was the first to pitch the idea to put the trucking industry on natural gas. All the MARTA buses run on it too, don't know how economical they are. Sounds like some refinements need to be made to make it more economical to run a class 8 truck though.

I've seen garbage trucks and buses. But yeah, a big truck loaded down and going a few hundred miles is different.

Frito Lay has them here they break down a lot and whenever one breaks down they park the entire fleet that they have so they can fix them all they have a lot of bugs right now they are much cleaner and get more mpg time will tell if they get all the bugs worked out ???

There are a few stations adding cng facilities in my area, and we aren't very big. It's coming very quickly. If you ever listen to the road dog they talk about it sometimes. From what I understand, they still use diesel to get running and then maybe a very lean bit of diesel along with the natural gas. The part of it that concerns me is that once this catches on, it will drive the natural gas prices up, and I will get to pay more for heating.

Everybody in TX is getting a big tax break of some sort. We;re supposed to keep ours in TX, but they run them to Prescott and LSL during the day..mostly in TX. Who's checking anyways...

Keep them down there... I have enough trouble keeping a diesel truck running when it's -40 out.

Central Freight Lines / Swift has at least 50 plus trucks running on CNG in the Houston area. Have a refueling station in front of their main gate.
