Why would you post this message?

You have no details...

And your making it look like Providence is out on it's own getting the job done...

Hey, "12" did you forget about to other six terminals that are going to be covered under this agreement?

Union = Group of People United Together... making Decisions Together

Announcing this as: "Contract all Done at 251" is such a "Individual" (“I” / “ME”) statement...

If I had the authority to "delete" this thread I would do so... Because, there’s "nothing" here... And, "way to premature!"

Tentative UPS Freight Agreement Unanimously Endorsed at National Two-Person Meeting

(Washington, D.C.) – The tentative UPS Freight Agreement was unanimously recommended at the national two-person meeting today by representatives from locals that have submitted cards from UPS Freight workers to join the Teamsters. The agreement will be voted on between now and April 6th in union halls nationwide by UPS Freight members.

Teamsters Package Division Director Ken Hall went over the contract in detail during the meeting. Afterward, several union leaders praised Hall and other IBT officials for crafting a plan that facilitated the process of signing up 9,600 UPS Freight workers in 90 days. There are 12,600 UPS Freight workers eligible to become Teamsters.

During his address to the crowd, General President Jim Hoffa remarked on the large number of UPS Freight workers who had signed cards since Jan. 16th.

“90 days, 9,600 new members. That is an historic and defining moment for the Teamsters,” Hoffa said. “This is the Teamster way of providing job protection and good benefits for workers.”

“I came out of freight, and I have spent a lifetime representing freight workers,” said General Secretary-Treasurer Tom Keegel. “This is a real break-through in this industry. This victory demonstrates to other non-union workers the value of a contract in the freight industry.”

Hall said the number of members currently signed has far exceeded his expectations.

“This is the best example I have seen of this entire union working together,” Hall said. “Our local unions have absolutely done an incredible job of going out and signing up these people.”

The contract covers workers in dozens of local unions, and will go into effect once the UPS workers ratify it. The agreement will be in effect until July 31, 2013.

Gary Witlen, Director of the IBT’s Legal Department, explained to the local union leaders how the vote must be conducted.

There's got to be more time then this for a vote of this epic proportion...

With as slow as everything else has been... It's going to take all of twelve day's just to get us the documentation...

I for one want the opportunity to absorb what is written as well have to opportunity to listen and speak with my fellow brothers and sisters... before making a decision...

We were just notified that we have a meeting this weekend to ratify and vote on this. 25 better get on the ball. I'm surprised they weren't leading this shindig!!!

One thing for sure, I believe they want to railroad this. I would have thought that they would mail out ballads like they did for the NMFA. Oops, I'm sorry, no NMFA, only a UPS style contract!!!

I want only the best, afterall we have been deemed the "best of the best". I have a funny feeling even without seeing this yet, I will be casting a "NO".

I agree a majority "NO" will at least make them improve the Indy contract

Perhaps, my being in NJ today... Is the reason I didn't receive my congratulatory handshake... You no what I mean...

I guess I've been monitoring to wrong page on the Teamster.org website... I been on the RSS feed...

Bottom line... "This is Great News"... I'm looking forward to getting back!

Ok so with the news of a vote going to take place very shortly.
Is this a new contract, better than Indys?
Or is it the same thing?
Just woundering?

Unretire?
I'm way past the stage of changing anything now.

I just read the news on KK's thread about him just getting back from the teamsters headquarters in Washington DC,that the contract is a tad bit better than the Indy contract for the rest of you UPS Freight card signers.

I hope its a good or fair contract. Because all of our no vote's won't make a difference. We will get this contract whether we like it or not.:smilie_132:
