We had 2 teamsters move in on coo and take bids ahead of senior men -one of our yardguys wanted to bid dock for better shift and was told no bids then went to the 2 guys that moved in and are junior to him

Seniority prevails...no matter where you're from

Not exactly and not always. Coworkers that transferred to Coldwater years back were put on the bids created in the change and not allowed to take better bids until the semiannual bidding. If there are multiple lists, those transferring in are following their work.

Even if you're following your work.that is somewhat vague.because the work may be there and it may not.still think one should get in where ones seniority fits.because afterall the transferring person did look to see where they would fit in.natural movement of things.

im not sure of the length but there was agreement made that permits the transfering person work for so many months until dovetailing into senority.

Those teamsters that moved on "follow your work" will work ahead of ANY laid off teamsters in the same classification. If there is an increase in work (freight) and the company calls back more senior employees in THAT classification THEN those "follow your work" transferees would be subject to the normal contract provisions with regard to future layoffs.

if i remember right ,follow your work lasted as long as your bids lasted, then they were fu--.they went to the senoirity list.where that was.

seniority doesnt hold anything, I transferred into a barn, and with 20 plus years have been put at the bottom of the board.. was told that transfer bids go to the bottom, and pool bids dovetail, I pool bid in and was told my seniority will not prevail for 30 days, i guess thats when we are bidding again, hell Im the last one asked to stay over, when I should be the first according to my seniority..

Can any one explain how it is that when they closed Chicago Ridge and moved all that work or at least a big portion to Bollingbrook and was told by Tyson Johnson that yes they were going to follow their work to Bollingbrook and two days later management comes out and said it ain't gona happen and laid off all those guys . This violates the contract past practice you name it . Tyson Johnson the freight director for the international came out and told the guys point blank YOU WILL FOLLOW YOUR WORK. Now they have to grieve it I can't see any way they can loose .If they do they will have to go to the labor board . :duel:

The teamster that the follow your work guys went ahead of was NOT on layoff he was on yard bid but wanted to bid dock and was not allowed , bids were given to teamsters that moved in on coo and are junior to him
