FedEx Freight | CORPORATE communication FEEDBACK

It’s good this forum exists to get information on the company I work for. My SCM doesn’t show road drivers any videos or does any preshifts. I know he does for city because I came in late the other day and he was having a meeting with everyone and they were watching a video. I appreciate all your posts @SwampRatt
Just so we know, leadership is REQUIRED to allow everyone to watch these, ON THE CLOCK (education). Usually about 15 min.

Be nice to know what the new bonus criteria is......

Perhaps this is the reason for the delay: Finding a metric that works, without being insulting to our intelligence. They likely don't want the bonuses to be too big (or small), but instead, somewhat close to what we're used to. :idunno:
Want to bet? Stay tuned...

Publicly traded carriers continue to rake in revenues, profits

"With 2018 being described as one of the strongest years in history for trucking companies, earnings reports from large publicly traded carriers continue to show zooming revenue and profits."

No news in this case is not good news but who knows.

November Video

John Smith spoke about FedExFamilyHouse, which provides a home away from home for out-of-town families with children receiving treatment at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, in Memphis. Having served more than 160,000 families from all 50 states and around the world. Very cool. http://www.fedexfamilyhouse.org/

Guest speakers
:

Doak Slay (Cool name), VP S/E region, spoke about the new Community Business Resource Team (BRT) and it's community involvement opportunity.

Christine Wilson, Sr. Manager Talent Acquisition, spoke about freight volumes being up significantly and "staffing demands" increasing.
Solution? Modernize our recruitment strategies, and increase the number of recruitment "managers" and "specialists", basically by 500%. Mentioned "innovative initiatives" and "strategic partnerships".

Matthew Thornton III, COO, (THIS guy STAYS busy. Always deep into something important), spoke extensively on three "critical" areas of focus. Safety, Service and Staffing. Oh, and it seems John calls him MT-3.

Lance Moll, SVP Operations, spoke about keeping yourself in top shape and using your in network primary care provider, within your health plan.

John Smith spoke on the Living PSP topic of the Mood Elevator, and also the value of quality time with your family and friends. Closed with Safety Above All.

November Video - CONTINUED:

Still CURIOUSLY ABSENT from any and all communication from Corp, the criteria for the FY19 incentive BONUS (AIC). :scratchhead:

The semi-annual reporting period is now over, numbers will be released in a couple weeks, and we STILL don't know what the "new & improved" basis for payout will be.

Someone PLEASE, spin this in some reasonably positive way. Anyone? :stirthepot:

I had heard ours was staying the same. Salary was going to the new way of computing. Not sure if true just water cooler rumors.

I heard recently that the combining of Co-Ops for the bonus was for management only and that ours would remain the same, freight only, but who knows....

That would be the best we could hope for, I think.

With margins continuing to improve, double digit and beyond repeated as goal, I'd hope we would benefit accordingly. The guidelines show the progressive return we would enjoy.

I have talked to 3 different higher ups. None of them knew the answer. Said they would find out. Still waiting......

Similar result here. Seems to be zero info available. We stay tuned...

Got confirmation today that our bonus will in fact stay the same, freight only.

Thanks for the info and the effort, Red. Sounds like clearer thinking prevailed. :1036316054:

This leads to more questions. Why would we have been informed of a coming change, back in July, from the absolute highest level? I won't speculate further, since the correct decision seems to have been made.

Interestingly, and worth knowing, leadership always had different guidelines for their bonus. NOT the same as ours, I'm told. Several metrics to achieve maximum bonus. Some of them subjective and based on annual (semi-annual?) review.

I'll be quite pleased if our's remains the same. I'm also willing to bet most in leadership would welcome a better, more cut and dry basis for their bonus.

December video:

John Smith on location at Trees for Troops event Tacoma, WA. Extra thanks to all front line drivers and freight handler who make this a success.

Jeff Greer on the upcoming Communications effectiveness survey. 1/7-1/25/19. Asks all to participate. (more on this later)

John Smith reiterates that the more participation, the more improvement they can make.

Mutlu Celikok in new position of VP - Strategic Planning and Execution, spoke on Frt. 2020, new handhelds, training, enhanced customer experience & operational efficiencies.

MT3 (COO - Matthew Thornton III), on location in Monterrey, MX. Spoke on improvements in International sector.

Safety Quote: "You teach what you allow". Never walk past an unsafe act or situation without addressing it.

Living PSP topic: Energy in a feeling. Team members in Monterrey shared their thoughts/methods.

John Smith thanked entire team, said he is incredibly proud. Wished everyone a great holiday season.

As always ended with "Safety above All".

You can still get your $100 Health Reimbursement account (HRA) credit(s), till 2/7/19

"New enrollees eligible for the catch-up period from January 7, 2019, to February 7, 2019, include new employees and/or any other employees or spouses/partners added to the plan during the 2019 Annual Benefits Enrollment period; new enrollees must have been eligible for FedEx medical benefits in 2018 to be eligible for the catch-up period."

Also, Commuter Benefits defined:

"Now you can reduce your commuting expenses by taking advantage of Qualified Commuter and Parking Benefits. The IRS allows for certain transit expenses to be deducted from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis. Because you do not pay federal income or FICA taxes on these expenses, you can save hundreds on your commuting costs!"

Since "some" posts were lost, we'll try to get back on track...

One such topic was the upcoming "Voice of the Team Member Survey. It might be wise, beneficial, or at least interesting, to try and get most on the same page. They are going to ask what we think. What improvements we'd like to see, so it wouldn't hurt to be prepared.

April 1st - April 15th are the dates.

Personally, based on tax cut windfall, I think an improved 401k match would be in order. A pension contribution that is equal to that over on the express side, seems reasonable.
As always, I think a closer look at the GPD (pay scale) matter is worth mentioning.

Those all seem pretty reasonable. My only immediate request would be they scrap the over hiring plan. Cutting proven city drivers ot to hire people and increase the overall payroll who can't even do the job in most cases doesn't work. We can't find anyone to even hire, running radio ads and everything.

Remember back from the November video...

"Solution? Modernize our recruitment strategies, and increase the number of recruitment "managers" and "specialists", basically by 500%. Mentioned innovative initiatives and strategic partnerships."

Once upon a time, there was something called a referral bonus. And then there was said to be ongoing analysis of the Geographic Pay Differential (GPD). Anyone hear recent mention of such things?
