FedEx Freight | Crap freight

I seem to be seeing a lot of "ugly" freight. I thought we were eliminating "non profile" shipments in order to maximize efficiency. I see tee pee poles, extrusions, bundles of pipe, 12' 18' 20' lengths, oversize and wide pallets. All this stuff requires extra handling, dictates how a trailer gets loaded, and directly affects load averages and pounds per hour. I really hope its being rated properly. Honestly, as long as we're hell bent on gate times and load averages, I would like to see it all go away.

Go ahead and smash it in there! Fifty ten fifty shmen! There is nothing quite like the priceless look from the consignee when I pull my door open to reveal what is left of that custom made 25ft 6000lb solid-brass boat drive shaft from timbuktoo that is now anything BUT straight...ouch. And then look at my DR to see that we hauled it for a grand total of $62 after the $3000 discount...sweet. See, job security, now we get to take it back where it came from and smash it some more...yee haw!!

If all my freight was 4x4x4 I would get bored and have to go find a shade tree to hide under.

:duh: It keep's you busy, which in turn keep's money in your wallet, which in turn feed;s your family. Now I don't condon this pratice of hauling "flatbed frieght" in a 28' pup, but hey the company keep's doing, SO it must benefit the company in sort of business fashion. FDX. FRT. must need damage's to balance their profit line.:grouphug::1036316054:

I don't haul crap freight. I make a point of not hanging around the trailer when the door is open. I do occasionally have problem freight. The HM paperwork is incorrect, the trailer is over weight, or something is leaking out the back door. In all these cases I put the trailer back to the dock, and let the red shirts take over. Since we don't have professional dock workers anymore these problems will keep popping up. We will also have a problem retaining new professional drivers. They will hang around long enough to find a real driving job, so the loading problems and claims will continue. TP

That is all the 90 for 90 frt you guys took THANKS! now you guys keep it. We're trying to make money on ours without big daddy finanicing us!

I actually broke a piece of " extreme length" freight off of a purchase trailer one night that literally would not fit on the pup to its end of line destination. He says "put it in OS & D". It ran from os&d into two other bays. Apparently they picked it up in an X box and put it in the purchase without asking WTF?

You could have cut it in half, shipped it on a pup, and told the customer, we haul LTL freight (less than trailer length):1036316054:

Ok from these post we are only suppose to take nice neat square boxes. Well why don't we just close the doors and all go home. ??

Are not the word Freight and LTL in our names? Price as needed for odd sizes. Bye bye to dock guys who damages the stuff your fired!!!

What happened to having a little pride in doing a good job. Just for your self not for the company. I've watched some of the guys on the dock. They drive around faster there then I do in the yard. Then maybe we wouldn't have so much damaged freight.
