Looks like Denvers having more problems again. This is a forward out of corporate got today.
First problem: Denver TM is VERY poor at Picking New Drivers/Dock personnel
New driver, maybe 3-4th day on job, Numerous complaints from customers on his lack of being able to back up a trailer! Tonite at about 8 pm new driver came into yard and went to pull into safety lane, hit the building poles causing both damage to truck and pole, stopped truck then jackknifed it almost to the point of falling into the man pit in safety lane, then he moves on to his door and hits several trailers while trying to back in!
Now why did Dan the numbers man hire this driver in the first place? This driver was road tested by one of our senior road drivers and during his road test he was to back the trailer in between 2 other trailers one of which is owned by RAC Transport, this driver hit the RAC trailer several times even when the senior driver told him to stop!
The senior driver failed this man on his test and recommended to Dan the TM that he should not hire this man due to inexperiance and no ability to back up!
Dan disregarded the senior drivers advice and trashed the test paperwork. Following day Dan had the shop foreman road test this man and passed him, with no backing test involved! Is this proper protocol for a TM at a company that touts Safe Drivers??
Second new driver is of Spanish back ground, nothing wrong with this except the fact that there have been ALOT of complaints from customers about him not speaking english and several complaints from drivers and dockworkers about the same, Dan has turned his head to all of this! Not to mention same driver left the yard with 8 deliverys ran for 10 hrs and brought back 4 returns, BTW no write up for this, yet a senior driver brings back 3 after leaving with 16 and gets wrote up? BS!!!
Second problem: Wage Discrimination by Dan the TM.
As the above example shows, Senior drivers close to or at scale are being discriminated against because of the wages they are making!
(BTW this type of lawsuit WILL hold up in a Colorado Court Room).
Senior drivers are being written up for little and foolish things left and right, yet new hires and $17 hr drivers and dock workers are tearing up equipment, freight and acting unprofessionally are not even being talked to by Dan the TM or even written up!!
Third: The numbers game!
Dan is a numbers cruncher, very good at manipulating the R&L system to make his terminal look like it is doing good to anyone who looks in from corporate or the out side. Yet Us employees have seen no such changes in reality other than on paper! There still sending 2 drivers to the same customers twice a day for delivery's and pickups, not because there's too much freight for 1 driver, but because there is no communication and the never take a dock check into concern!, not making appointments when it states so on the BOL, zig zagging drivers across routes, towns and county's.
Dan has been asked to try and remedy these problems, his answer ver-batium "deal with it" Not a very good response from a 19 year R&L team player!
Want your eyes opened to this mess? Come out to Denver unannounced! Ask everyone from the front clerk down to the dock workers, You'd learn the truth about Denver Operations and the Terminal Manager!
