A couple months back there was a post about the company buying I think 2,000 swing door pups . I believe it said coming in April or May . Has anyone seen any ? I myself hope this was just a rumor !

Years ago Overnite did a study on barn doors. If I recall correctly they decided against it for several reasons. I know one was how many Comp. injuries they would have by falling freight on jockeys and drivers opening the doors with unstable freight overhead. One of the others was adds 2-4 minutes per stop every time the driver has to open or close doors at a stop. The higher cost of roll-ups was justified.
Just my 2 cents, be safe....

I heard they scrapped the idea after they discovered any millennial age employee would not be able to figure out how to open them without first Googling it.

On Sat morning I pulled a new pup Manufacturer date was Mar/21. It was a rollup door with safe stack, I think, sealed load but all the rivets in the side kink of gives it away..I have yet to see or hear anything else about swing doors.....

Rumor we were told is that they are being sent to California. As they have more laws about the age of equipment.

I know 2 drivers @ ABF who had @ least 2 operations because a swing door was caught by the wind, damaging their shoulders. Thousands of dollars for a swing door medical expenses built in to the initial cost of the trailer. von.
