Driver Detention-what Are Your Thoughts/experiences?

The FMCSA is currently seeking comments on driver detention. What are your thoughts/experiences? What should be done? How much time do you spend at docks on average? Does detention happen more often then not? Do you get compensated?

Go LTL we get paid for everything. Your time is valuable if you aren't moving you should be getting paid at least $20 an hour.

I took it as....waiting to be either loaded or unloaded.
And being paid for it.

Thanks, I was thinking detained while waiting to be unloaded instead of detention. My mind was on a different wave length.

One reason I came back to LTL. I really do love running the road, but I would never go back unless it was a niche where I would not have to deal with large shippers and receivers . I get paid for every minute I work now. No more giving my time away.

Yeah. Most truckload carriers pay you detention. After you give them the first 2-3 hours for free....

Get flat rates for each p/u and drops and alot more $ then what is paid now

Unionize get paid for everything I don't understand why people continue to work for free should be paid all time you are at work including sleeping in truck.
