It's a progression. They don't hit you with an all in full frontal assault. What sets the cameras off? If the camera activates and downloads an activation; what are the consequences, coaching sessions, write ups?
Insurance companies want them and trucking companies want that insurance discount. You're going to get them.

Thank you for responding. Sefl is self insured, so this may not apply to them. There are “coaching sessions now

Not saying they eventually won't come. But, sefl knows that the camera can hurt you as much as it can help you. So for that reasoning it may be until it is mandated by the fmcsa.
 
Being ‘self insured’ don’t mean squat! Every company, has an ‘insurance bond holder’. And if that company wants driver facing cameras, they are in your future. My company started with just the incident activated style, 3 years later we now have the live version, they can view you at anytime they want, cameras and microphones.
 
Audible/Sight Catching Cameras FACING DRIVERS are somehow for SAFETY.
So for the many DECADES before such installations, Drivers were somehow "Unsafe"??

MANY companies have such and there are solutions:
(1) Stop Driving.
(2) Use A Piece Of Clear (fuzzy sight) or Dark Tape.
(3) IF Camera is movable--Initiate.
(4) Offer "Hand Gestures" as well Off Camber "Suggestions".
I do 2 & 4.

Your "solutions", albeit temporary, are yours.
