FedEx Freight | Driver Retention

Wow this sounds a lot like the "10 Pillars Of Communism". I've never really had a problem with FXF except a little of the "inform" us part. I look at it this way.
I come to work when they tell me to. I drop or hook what they tell me to. Drive whatever they tell me to( with the exception of defective equipment) and drive it to wherever they tell me to. For this service I get great pay and good, if not great, benefits.

It's not hard to figure out. FXF is NOT the best company I've ever worked for but it is in the top 2.

Granted it has been awhile since I worked for Waste Management and by now maybe their benefits have gone down hill too, but these are far from as good as the insurance benefits I had there! In any case they are not great in my opinion.

I din't know what bennies you have but I've worked here for 3+yrs and other than 1 emergency room visit, I've never forked over one thin dime at my doctors office. I asked him about it once and he told me the insurance company carried all the freight on my medical, so I'm not complaining. Dental could be a bit better and vision is a waste unless you have real problems. There isn't a better 401k company than Vanguard. The pension remains to be seen but it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

And it's much better than forking over 1.5% of my income to some thug so they can give it to those useless pieces of trash in that "occupy" movement.
Between 2 401k's + 2 pensions +plus private investments in Gold and Silver, I'll retire at age 59 with a good life. The only complaint I have is I think anyone who drives a Kenworth should get hazard pay

It's interesting that the dedicated professionals on this website have basically said: "Ho hum, I go to work, do my job and go home."

Meanwhile, the whiny little bitches refuse to comment. They hide in the shadows and wait for an opportunity to claim that somehow they've been wronged because the company failed to give them cookies and warm milk at the end of their trip, along with a blanky and a teddy bear.

It's called maturity folks! Go to work, do your job; collect your check and go home!!!

Wow, no co-pay or nothing? I want your doctor. No labs? No prescriptions for anything? I want your health plan too. (or the drugs you are taking for free)

As usual, confusing with wanting to make things better with whining is the typical answer.

How many Viking guys remember doing a LOT more than just doing their jobs, getting a paycheck and going home? You know, the things that build a company? If you're happy just doing the bare minimum, you're in the right place. Those of us who used to work for a real company would like to do more, but what's the point when it probably violates Snapshot?

Heard of putting a frog in cold water and slowly turning up the heat? They are so unaware that they will just sit in the pot until it's too late. Complacent workers are frogs.

Lets put this into proper perspective.

SNAPSHOT is a standards compliance review...nothing more or less.

It is the managers who are on the bubble for this...not the the drivers.

And I am sure the managers will pass the the BS down the line to the drivers, but ultimately it is the management that is subjected to the corrective actions required by any SNAPSHOT failures.

My take on the matter...

1. I don't care.
2. It is not my problem.
3. I am not going to bend over and relent to any '(⊙▃⊙)fied' attempt to integrate my individuality into the 'purple promise'...(which doesn't exist...a lie from the beginning!!!).
4. Leave me the hell alone to do my job.
5. I don't care.

Pay close attention to numbers 1 & 5...

FedEx is trying to be UPS....and at this point are not worthy to tie the shoes on the average UPS employee.

SNAPSHOT is only effective if they can up end or demoralize the efforts of the average driver.

As I have said before..."I don't care!"

Really Rat I see where you are at in your thoughts. BUT I will say if you didn't care why in the hell are you on a message board with fellow employees telling us you don't care.
If I didn't care I damn sure would not be on a message board " caring " about my company and coworkers.
I'm busting your balls rat but there is some fact in what I'm saying. Thank you for not caring and being here !! That's great.

Franklin, at what point do you pull your head out of your ass and realize they don't want you to do more??? The company wants you to come to work, do the job the way they want it done, collect a check and go home. You keep insisting on doing the job the way you think it should be done. That's not the way it works anymore. Do what they want and go home....

Maybe its not so bad

I have only been with FXF for 2 months. Before that I was an Outside the Wire Truck Driver in Iraq for 4 years (over 300 missions). Before that I worked for 8 that's right I said 8 different Trucking companies, all OTR. I can tell you guys that FXF is the easiest Trucking job I have ever had. From what I can see in the short time I have been here is that the drivers here half of whom have never driven a truck anywhere else are spoiled rotten. What you guys have got to remember is that nothing anywhere is as good as it once was. That's just the way it is. Why stress yourselves out thinking about how good it was for you 10 years ago and how it sucks now. Just do you job the best you can and go home feeling good about a job well done. That's what I do. I spend most days on the dock. I am not a dock worker, I am a truck driver but I work the dock the best I can. I don't know, maybe my outlook has been changed over the past 4 years but I think there are a lot of people out there that wish they had OUR problems.

Bottom line is, there are LOTS of worse jobs out there. I've had some. I worked other places where I went the extra mile and was appreciated for it. Not the case here, so I adjusted. Come in, do my job, go home. I get a nice paycheck at the end of the week. Life is good.

Gee, this sounds so good. Especially since the drivers are not employees of Fedex, but employees of a contractor to fedex. I would love to work for whatever contractor you work for. I am a line driver for fedex, through a contractor, and I get paid every other week, and I have L and I. Other then that I have no benefits, and no retirement plan with the company nor the contractor. So, as you say I get my pay and go home. So, where do I apply for these benefits etc., that you mentioned?
